【Epoch Times News, June 12, 2024】 Chinese actor Hu Ge, after attending the 55th Golden Horse Awards, visited Taiwan again after a 6-year hiatus and participated in the “Youth Dialogue” event held in the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei on the 12th. It is reported that the first mainland drama directed by Wong Kar-wai, “Blooming Flowers,” has made the main characters Hu Ge and Tiffany Tang very popular. However, Tiffany Tang, also from Shanghai, originally planned to accompany Hu Ge on this trip, but her studio stated that due to scheduling conflicts, she had to cancel her attendance.
The Mainland Affairs Council confirmed on the evening of the 11th that Hu Ge was invited to Taiwan by the Taipei City audiovisual program production industry association, and his entry has been approved by the Ministry of Culture, Immigration Agency, and other related agencies. It is said that the Chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation, David Lee, played a key role in facilitating this exchange. In response, the Foundation stated, “Applications for Mainland individuals to visit Taiwan are reviewed jointly by the Mainland Affairs Council and other relevant authorities. The Foundation is not involved.” The Mainland Affairs Council emphasizes that they welcome exchanges between both sides through film and television works and welcome entertainment industry professionals from mainland China to share their experiences in Taiwan.
According to a report by “ETtoday News Cloud,” Hu Ge’s whirlwind visit to Taiwan this time will last less than 24 hours. He is scheduled to arrive at Songshan Airport at noon on the 12th, attend the event at 4 p.m., and return to the hotel to rest at 5 p.m. Hu Ge, a vegetarian, is expected to have a simple meal at the hotel and fly out from Taoyuan Airport on the morning of the 13th. His itinerary is quite tight.
Hu Ge’s last visit to Taiwan was in 2018 when he served as a presenter at the 55th Golden Horse Awards. Now, after six years, he is back in Taiwan for a youth exchange event. This visit is low-key, and it is reported that the venue can accommodate 200 people, mainly targeting young directors and film creators in Taiwan. Besides Hu Ge, Tiffany Tang was also invited originally but had to cancel her attendance due to scheduling conflicts. The exact details of the event are currently unknown.
Recently, Hu Ge and Tiffany Tang starred in the first TV drama directed and produced by renowned Hong Kong director Wong Kar-wai, “Blooming Flowers,” which has gained significant popularity. The drama has surpassed 11.5 billion views on Weibo and has reached 19.1 billion views on Douyin. “Blooming Flowers” will premiere on MyVideo in Taiwan starting from June 14, airing 5 episodes every Friday and completing the 30-episode series in 6 weeks.
