Recently released video footage from the battlefield in Ukraine shows a U.S.-made mine-resistant ambush protected vehicle, MaxxPro, successfully moving along a dirt road after enduring a series of intense artillery attacks by Russian forces.
This incident reportedly took place in the Chasiv Yar area of Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine, where battles between Russian and Ukrainian forces have been fierce in recent months.
Rob Lee, Senior Research Fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, shared a video on social media platform X, showcasing a MaxxPro MRAP surviving multiple enemy drone and mortar attacks in the Chasiv Yar area.
The video highlights the dangerous conditions of the road, with destroyed military vehicles visible on the side.
The exact location and timing of the video could not be independently verified by Epoch Times.
Former design chief at Plasan, Nir Kahn, posted on X along with Rob Lee’s video, expressing pride in contributing to the design of the Navistar MaxxPro MRAP, mentioning its life-saving capabilities in Ukraine and beyond.
The MaxxPro, designed by American company Navistar Defense and Israeli company Plasan Sasa, is part of the U.S. military’s Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle program.
According to Business Insider, the Pentagon announced last year that as part of a military aid program, the U.S. delivered 200 MaxxPro MRAPs to Ukraine, totaling $625 million.
Navistar Defense’s website states that the original design of the MaxxPro aimed to protect personnel in Iraq from improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Through years of engineering improvements, the MaxxPro has become one of the most adaptable and survivable wheeled vehicles in the world.
Navistar Defense claims that the MaxxPro MRAP can withstand ballistic weapon shots, mine explosions, IEDs, and other emerging threats.
Its V-shaped structure redirects the majority of blast energy to the sides in the event of an explosion, reducing direct impact on the crew compartment to protect occupants.
Designed for combat readiness, the MaxxPro enables quick maintenance and repairs using standardized components. The vehicle can accommodate 12 personnel and is equipped with a single turret mounting either a 7.62 or 12.7mm machine gun.
The MaxxPro has played a crucial role on the battlefield in Ukraine. In June last year, soldiers from Ukraine’s 68th Armored Brigade became trapped while trying to advance towards the village of Blahodatne in the Kherson region of southern Ukraine.
Despite some soldiers being killed by machine gun fire while attempting to escape, others inside MaxxPro vehicles managed to evade enemy artillery attacks successfully.
“For Russians, MaxxPros are like a red rag. They do everything to target them,” a Ukrainian soldier named Stepan told The Times, “But they are almost indestructible.”
Stepan mentioned one vehicle being hit by a shell and another by a mortar round, yet “everyone inside the vehicles survived.” “They truly saved the lives of our soldiers,” he added.
Military website Defense Blog stated that the MaxxPro’s ability to withstand heavy attacks and continue operating highlights the vehicle’s resilience and the importance of such advanced military technology in modern warfare.
