Hospital Pillowcases Found in Hotel in Hangzhou, Sparking Concerns of Bacteria Transmission

A woman staying at a Yado hotel in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province on the mainland found “hospital pillowcases”. The front desk staff at the hotel in question acknowledged the situation to be true. The incident has drawn widespread attention from netizens, with some expressing concerns about potential bacteria transmission. The topic has quickly become a hot topic online.

On June 3, a female netizen posted on social media that when she stayed at a Yado hotel in Hangzhou, she discovered pillowcases marked with the logo of a local hospital, indicating they were “hospital pillowcases”.

According to the post, after checking in on June 2, she inadvertently noticed the pillowcases bore the logo of “Hangzhou Yuxiang Lake Future Hospital”, which was noticeably different from the Yado’s own “Yado Life” logo. She initially thought they might have been mixed up with those from another hotel, but upon closer inspection, she realized they were from a hospital.

Hangzhou Yuxiang Lake Future Hospital is located in Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou, about 28 kilometers away from the implicated Yado hotel. Public information indicates that this hospital is a large privately-owned medical institution.

Following the exposure of the incident where hospital pillowcases were found in hotel rooms, it sparked a heated discussion among netizens and became a trending topic online.

Some netizens expressed concerns that as hospitals are considered special places, linens should undergo stricter cleaning and management processes. “If hospital linens are entering hotel rooms, does it signify potential loopholes in the hotel’s linen cleaning and replacement procedures?” Other netizens worry that mixing the two types of linens could lead to the spread of bacteria.

A Baidu user, f818d5ea, pointed out the significant issue, mentioning that hospital and hotel linens should ideally be washed separately in designated facilities.

Quality Commentator: After being washed together, it’s uncertain if proper disinfection is carried out, potentially bringing infectious pathogens to the hotel.

Changchun Xiaohan Brother 67f0e5: Yado has really hit rock bottom; who knows how many problems have surfaced. They should seriously reflect on themselves.

Zhangzh6808: The bigger issue lies with the implicated hospital.

According to Upstream News’ report, the user who posted online mentioned staying at Yado Hotel in Xixi Zijin Port, Hangzhou, emphasizing, “Having hospital linens in a hotel is already a major mistake.”

The front desk staff of the implicated Yado Hotel in Xixi Zijin Port, Hangzhou, confirmed the situation to be true, stating it was the first time such an incident occurred in their establishment.

However, the hotel’s manager denied the claim, stating that the Yado Hotel mentioned by the guest was not the Yado Hotel under his management in Xixi Zijin Port, Hangzhou. He mentioned that they had not received any feedback on the matter and would gather evidence to pursue the individual who made the post, but did not respond further.

After the manager’s denial, the report mentioned reaching out to the original poster to confirm the specific information about the hotel they stayed in, and she confidently reiterated that it was indeed the mentioned hotel.

As the incident continues to escalate, Yado Hotel in Xixi Zijin Port, Hangzhou, issued an apology statement on their Douyin account.

Hotel linens refer to all textile products related to “cloth” in hotels. This includes room linens, bath linens, and catering and meeting linens. Specifically, items like duvet covers, pillowcases, and sheets fall under room linens, which are used for beds.

Encountering hospital linens in a hotel room, a senior manager named Liu from a professional linen washing company in Chongqing expressed that the vast majority of hotels in the market do not have their own laundry facilities and rely on third-party washing plants for daily linen washing services, making it difficult for hotels to constantly monitor the quality of washing by these third-party facilities.
