Hong Kong Weather: Partly Cloudy with Showers Today, Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms on Monday and Tuesday

A prevailing easterly airflow is currently affecting the coastal areas of Guangdong. Concurrently, sudden heavy rains are also impacting Guangdong and the northern part of the South China Sea. In Hong Kong, the temperature on the 19th ranges from 23 to 27 degrees Celsius with mostly cloudy skies and a few episodes of sudden showers. The humidity is around 78 percent. Later, there will be heavier rainfall and occasional thunderstorms with strong winds. The winds will be light to moderate from the east to southeast, occasionally gusty over offshore and high ground areas. At 10:30 am, the UV index recorded in King’s Park was (3), indicating a moderate level of intensity.

Looking ahead to the 20th, there will be intermittent heavy rain and thunderstorms. On Tuesday (21st), there will still be sudden showers, but the rainfall will decrease over the following one or two days.

The Observatory stated that the prevailing easterly airflow will continue to affect Guangdong today. At the same time, a trough of low pressure will gradually intensify and bring heavy rain and thunderstorms to the southern coast of China in the next one or two days. It is expected that the trough of low pressure will slightly move away from the coastal areas of Guangdong by the middle to late part of this week, but there will still be sudden showers in the coastal regions there.
