Hong Kong Star Zheng Xiyi and Family Move out of Shanghai, Return to Hong Kong for Living

Hong Kong star Yumiko, who rose to fame again after participating in the mainland variety show “Sisters Who Make Waves” and temporarily relocating to Shanghai, recently revealed in an interview with Radio Television Hong Kong that she has now moved back to Hong Kong with her family. She is continuing to teach her 9-year-old daughter how to write traditional Chinese characters.

Yumiko gained popularity in mainland China in 2020 when she participated in the first season of “Sisters Who Make Waves” on Hunan Satellite TV. Although she did not debut as part of a group at the time, she received numerous opportunities for exposure and acting gigs.

However, due to the inconvenience of traveling between Hong Kong and mainland China during the pandemic, with both places requiring quarantine at times, Yumiko decided to relocate her family to Shanghai to reduce the back-and-forth trips. Having her daughter and husband by her side allowed her to work with more peace of mind and concentration.

Yet, in the recent interview with Radio Television Hong Kong, Yumiko disclosed that after three years of living in Shanghai, she and her husband, Andy, have moved back to Hong Kong with their daughter.

Yumiko shared that her 9-year-old daughter is now studying at an international school in Hong Kong, with the new semester having just begun.

Although they have returned to Hong Kong, Yumiko mentioned that her daughter still needs some time to adjust to life in Hong Kong. She will continue to diligently teach her daughter how to write traditional Chinese characters. Despite settling in Shanghai for three years, Yumiko has been privately instructing her daughter on writing traditional characters in the hope that she will easily adapt when returning to Hong Kong in the future.

Some netizens understand Yumiko’s decision to bring her daughter back to Hong Kong for schooling, considering the educational and resource advantages of Hong Kong over mainland China. However, others speculate that Yumiko chose to return to Hong Kong due to the apparent decrease in resources in mainland China over the past two years, and she is now trying her luck in Hong Kong.

Upon her return to Hong Kong, Yumiko has been fully engaged in preparing for her new song. On her 43rd birthday on the 6th, she announced the release of her new song “Lady King” on social media. She confessed that this song has been a labor of love for her, akin to a “second child.” The song sees her daringly incorporating rap elements and seamlessly blending Shanghainese, Cantonese, and Mandarin, giving it a unique and multi-dimensional flair.
