Hong Kong airport ground staff push Chan Chau-wan to vent in post

On May 10th, Taiwanese artist Joe Chen, who is married to the second-generation artist Alan Ma from Macau, posted a temporary update on her Instagram account. She revealed that she recently encountered an extremely rude male airport staff member when transiting at Hong Kong airport. The staff member displayed impatience towards passengers. In response to this, Chen spoke out, saying, “What are you getting impatient about? What are you rushing the passengers for? If you’re impatient, then just go home and stay there.”

In her post, Chen detailed the chaotic scene at Gate 40 in Hong Kong where many passengers, unfamiliar with the boarding process, caused confusion while queuing and scanning boarding passes. She was particularly bothered by the impatient attitude of one airport staff member who was urging passengers in a very impatient tone. Chen couldn’t help but question, “Why are you impatient and rushing the passengers? We ask questions when we don’t understand; it’s part of your job, your profession.”

According to Chen, the role of airport staff is to assist passengers in boarding smoothly and orderly, demonstrating professionalism and patience. Criticizing the staff’s attitude, Chen emphatically stated, “If you’re impatient, then just go home and stay there.”

Chen also mentioned that this was the first time she had encountered such a loud, unreasonable, and hurried airport staff member, which left her particularly surprised. She bluntly expressed, “You are working for a salary; please show professionalism when you work. Passengers don’t need to bear with your bad mood today.”

Lastly, Chen recommended that the airport staff member should adjust their emotions while working, avoiding bringing personal feelings into the workplace, and affecting passengers’ boarding experience. She called out, “If you are always displaying such an impatient attitude towards your work every day, go home and sort out your emotions before coming back to work.”

Recently, Joe Chen and her husband, Alan, went on a self-driving trip to Japan. From Kumamoto Castle to Takachiho Gorge, they left behind many sweet photos together. Of particular interest was the series of photos Chen posted on her social media, showing her in designer handbags including Hermes Kelly bags, Birkin bags, and LV mini bags, making it seem like a walking luxury brand showcase. Over the past few days, it has left people feeling overwhelmed by the visual extravaganza.
