In recent years, Hong Kong martial arts superstar Sammo Hung has been frequently spotted using a wheelchair to get around. Recently, he has been sharing videos on TikTok showing his spirited demeanor, agile movements, and overall good condition, sparking speculation in the public that he may have injected some kind of “mysterious liquid” to rejuvenate his body. In response to these speculations, his son, Timmy Hung, who is also an actor, addressed the issue during a recent program.
Sammo Hung recently opened a TikTok account, which was noticed for his apparent “rejuvenation,” causing discussions among the public. Addressing the rumors of him injecting a “mysterious liquid,” Timmy Hung stated on the online show “Entertainment Fun” hosted by a friend on December 9, “Not only talking about my father Sammo Hung, but also saying that Jet Li is also different now, there are many speculations online.” He revealed that he directly asked his father if he had undergone any new treatment, and the answer was a clear “not at all.”
At the age of 73, Sammo Hung has been seen mobility-impaired in recent years, needing crutches or a wheelchair due to declining health. Timmy Hung explained that his father accumulated a lot of old injuries from shooting action films over the years, combined with his heavyweight causing pressure on his knees, leading to frequent pains which require the use of crutches or wheelchair for assistance.
Regarding why Sammo Hung was not using a wheelchair in his recent TikTok videos, Timmy Hung explained, “You wouldn’t push a wheelchair into the shot when filming a video!” He added that his father simply chose to present himself in a better condition in front of the camera, rather than completely without the need for a wheelchair assist.
Referred to as the “most flexible fat man,” Sammo Hung’s career spans over 60 years, appearing in nearly 200 films. Due to constant strain from shooting action scenes day and night in his youth, which primarily involved martial arts, his body accumulated numerous injuries, with severe wear on the cartilage in his knees. In 2017, he underwent knee surgery on doctors’ advice, thus requiring a wheelchair for mobility at times.
However, netizens discovered that during the Hong Kong Film Awards on April 14, 2024, Sammo Hung did not use crutches or a wheelchair but directly walked onto the stage to receive an award and passionately delivered his acceptance speech for the “Lifetime Achievement Award.”
In mid-November this year, Sammo Hung was spotted in Xi’an standing and walking on his own without a wheelchair, even practicing Tai Chi. This surprised many netizens who were curious about how he achieved this feat.
Recently, Sammo Hung has been actively sharing videos on TikTok, showcasing his agility, which prompted discussions on Weibo where netizens speculated that Sammo Hung and other artists like Jet Li have injected some “mysterious liquid” to reverse the aging process. However, netizens did not explain the source of this “mysterious liquid” or what it is.
Jet Li’s health condition has also sparked speculation among online users. In August this year, during a hospitalization for surgery, Jet Li was photographed looking exhausted and noticeably elderly. He later posted online, mentioning some issues with his “hardware” and the need for maintenance, causing concerns among his followers.
Unexpectedly, upon his return, Jet Li appeared lively and agile at a public event, looking rejuvenated with improved complexion and brisk movements, resembling someone in their thirties despite being in his sixties. This sparked discussions among netizens, with some even questioning if Jet Li had undergone organ transplants.
Jet Li promptly released a video showing his upper body to disprove any surgeries, aiming to show no scars, and cryptically remarked, “Words can be frightening, eh.” Some netizens doubted if Jet Li wore fake skin to film the video.
At that time, Chinese entertainment commentator Song Zude posted on social media, noting significant differences in Jet Li’s voice and demeanor compared to his usual calm and modest persona. He called for authorities to investigate the matter, suggesting that Jet Li’s identity should be scrutinized.
Curiously, on November 14, a video circulating on an international platform X showed individuals selling “blood exchange therapy” to wealthy clients, claiming to replace aged blood capsules with those from 17 to 21-year-old youths to stimulate sexual function and delay aging.
In the video, a woman introduced the concept of “blood exchange therapy” to a male client, emphasizing the extraction of functional proteins from blood capsules unique to 17 to 21-year-old boys, injecting these proteins in concentrated form into individuals to revert to a youthful state within two weeks. She mentioned affiliations with a hospital supported by a wealthy individual in Malaysia and a prominent Chinese conglomerate, even claiming the ability to perform organ transplants, sending shivers down the listener’s spine.
In response to the online rumors, some fans urged Sammo Hung to follow Jet Li’s lead and promptly clarify the truth. Timmy Hung emphasized during the program that his father’s improved condition stemmed from rest, adjustment, and improved spirits, rather than the speculated “injection of mysterious liquid,” reassuring everyone not to overly worry.
