Homeland Security Secretary’s Wallet Stolen at Washington Restaurant

The United States Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, confirmed on Monday (April 21) that her wallet was stolen while dining at a restaurant in downtown Washington D.C. on Sunday evening.

During the White House Easter Egg Roll event, when asked about the incident, Noem admitted to the theft and mentioned that the case is still “unresolved.”

A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security stated on Monday that Noem’s wallet contained approximately $3,000 in cash, which she had withdrawn to treat her entire family (including children and grandchildren) to dinner, as well as to cover the cost of Easter gifts and event participation.

According to CNN, who first reported the incident, the wallet also contained Noem’s passport, makeup bag, blank checks, driver’s license, keys, and medication.

A law enforcement source revealed that the Secret Service, responsible for Noem’s security, reviewed the security camera footage from Capital Burger restaurant, which showed an unidentified Caucasian male wearing a medical mask grabbing the wallet and quickly fleeing the scene.

A Secret Service spokesperson informed CNBC that the agency is still gathering information regarding the theft.
