Hoi Kam Lai Team Raises $540 Million, Donation Soars During Conference

On Sunday, the campaign team of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris announced that they have raised 540 million dollars to support her in the upcoming presidential election in November, where she will face off against the Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential race, former President Donald Trump.

According to reports from the Associated Press, since President Biden announced his withdrawal from the race on July 21 and endorsed Kamala Harris, the Democratic successor has had no trouble raising campaign funds. Her campaign team stated that during the Democratic National Convention held last week in Chicago, the donations received by the Democratic presidential candidate and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, surged, as they accepted the party’s nomination at the convention.

Jen O’Malley Dillon, the chair of Kamala Harris’s campaign team, mentioned in a memorandum released on Sunday that, “Just before Vice President Harris delivered her nomination acceptance speech on Thursday night, our donations officially surpassed the milestone of 500 million dollars. Following her speech, we immediately experienced the best fundraising period since the start of the campaign.”

The total funds raised for Kamala Harris include contributions from the Kamala Harris Presidential Campaign Team, the Democratic National Committee (DNC), and the joint fundraising committee.

O’Malley Dillon stated that nearly one-third of the donations received during the week of the Democratic National Convention came from first-time donors, with approximately one-fifth of these being young voters and two-thirds being women. The campaign team believes that these groups are crucial demographics needed for Vice President Harris to secure control of the White House in November.

Furthermore, Kamala Harris’s campaign team mentioned that the number of volunteers supporting this Democratic presidential nominee has been increasing significantly. During the week of the Democratic National Convention, supporters eagerly signed up to assist with Kamala Harris’s campaign activities, resulting in nearly 200,000 registered volunteers rotating shifts.
