High school girl in Shanghai dies suddenly during military training in 40-degree heat, officials manipulate public opinion.

In the scorching heat, one would expect a break from summer heat, but the Chinese Communist Party has high school students endure military training under such conditions. Recently, a first-year high school student at Shanghai Jiaotong University Affiliated High School in Jiading collapsed during military training and was diagnosed with sudden cardiac arrest leading to her tragic death at the age of 15, with official censorship suppressing public opinion.

According to insiders, the student was named Ouyang Yawen, a first-year student at Shanghai Jiaotong University Affiliated High School in Jiading. Her class was undergoing a week-long military training program at Dongfang Lvzhou. The tragedy occurred on August 14 at 13:40 when the Shanghai Meteorological Center issued a high-temperature yellow warning at 11:53, with temperatures exceeding 35°C and ground temperatures close to 40°C.

Following the incident, the Dongfang Lvzhou camp canceled the scheduled cultural performance for that day, replaced it with a class meeting, prohibited any form of entertainment, including singing military songs, and allowed students to return to school early, citing equipment issues. Around noon on the 15th, news of Ouyang’s passing spread within the school. Subsequently, school leaders (presumably the Communist Youth League Secretary) threatened students not to disclose the incident, claiming it was “rumors,” with all related information on major platforms being blocked at midnight on the 16th.

Online posts by friends of the deceased criticized the school for prioritizing evasion in encountering such incidents, sacrificing morality for student enrollment pressure. The continuous suppression and filtering of online content have become a common occurrence, underscoring the unfortunate proximity of such tragedies to individuals. Rather than addressing problems, authorities choose to silence dissent, a practice that questions the fairness and humanity in handling such sensitive issues.

A mainland Chinese citizen, Mr. Liu, expressed his discontent to Epoch Times, highlighting the detrimental effects of authoritarianism on students in a society where children are typically raised as only-children, pampered and ill-prepared to endure extreme conditions. He criticized the regime for fostering blind obedience in students, suppressing individuality and critical thinking, effectively stifling human nature and fostering a culture of compliance and sacrifice.

Tragic incidents during student military training have been recurrent in recent years. In August 2024, a 16-year-old student succumbed to heatstroke during military training in 36°C weather in Heze, Shandong. Similarly, in August 2024, a first-year female student died of heatstroke during military training in Mengzhuang Middle School in Huixian, Henan.

In September 2023, a male student in Guangdong University of Commerce died of heatstroke during military training after being denied rest by instructors when feeling unwell in the morning, demonstrating a pattern of negligence and abuse of authority.

Mr. Jin, a cultural figure in mainland China, criticized military training as a means to instill blind compliance in students, devoid of critical thinking or autonomy, portraying the Communist Party’s reinforcement of a submissive populace lacking in independent thought or courage.

Describing the Communist Party as a pseudo-religious extremist group and humanity’s largest criminal organization, Mr. Jin argued that they meticulously manipulate human nature, stifling goodness while empowering evil. He condemned the regime’s authoritarianism, characterized by the suppression of individuality and free thought, eroding the spirit and essence of the Chinese people.

On the afternoon of August 20, Epoch Times journalists attempted to contact Shanghai Jiaotong University Affiliated High School in Jiading, but their calls went unanswered.
