On Wednesday, Vice President Kamala Harris will visit Georgia and North Carolina to inspect the damage caused by Hurricane Helen. This deadly storm has disrupted the political schedule with the election day only a little over a month away.
According to an assistant who refused to be named, the Democratic presidential candidate plans to first visit Georgia on Wednesday and then inspect the situation of the damage in North Carolina in the coming days. Harris’ team has been coordinating her plans to avoid affecting local disaster relief efforts.
Harris was originally scheduled to travel through Pennsylvania by bus on Wednesday with her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. However, Walz will be participating in the vice presidential debate with Ohio Senator JD Vance on Tuesday night, so Pennsylvania will now be accompanied by the state senator John Fetterman.
After Georgia, Harris plans to continue her scheduled visits to Wisconsin and Michigan later this week before heading to North Carolina.
President Joe Biden will also be visiting North Carolina on Wednesday. To avoid occupying local resources, he will be taking a helicopter to view the severe damage in the Asheville area.
Republican candidate Donald Trump visited Georgia on Monday.
