“Hainan ‘mole’ is double-opened, once served as the director of the Anti-Corruption and Bribery Bureau”

Former Vice Secretary of the Haikou City Commission for Discipline Inspection and former Deputy Director of the Municipal Supervision Commission, Ke Wei, has been expelled from the Party and dismissed from public office.

According to the announcement made by the Hainan Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision on August 25, Ke Wei was found to have no belief in the party organization and had connections with “political swindlers”. He violated regulations by accepting gifts, bribes, and interfering in cadre selection, appointment, and military placement through nepotism. He also took advantage of his position to benefit others in project contracting, case handling, and job transfers, illegally receiving large sums of money. These actions constitute serious violations of duty and suspicion of bribery crimes. Ke Wei’s alleged criminal issues have been referred to the procuratorial organs for examination and prosecution, and all involved assets have been transferred as well.

Ke Wei, born in October 1968, has held various positions including assistant prosecutor at the Anti-Corruption Bureau Investigation Department of the Hainan Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, deputy prosecutor at the Le Dong County Prosecutor’s Office, deputy director and prosecutor at the Anti-Corruption and Bribery Bureau of the Second Branch of the Hainan Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, and director (Division level) at the Anti-Corruption and Bribery Bureau. He has also served as the director (Division level) of the Anti-Corruption and Bribery Bureau at the Haikou City Prosecutor’s Office.

In February 2018, Ke Wei was appointed as a member of the Haikou City Supervision Commission, and later became the Deputy Secretary of the Haikou City Commission for Discipline Inspection and the Deputy Director of the Municipal Supervision Commission until his investigation on June 3 of this year.
