On May 8, Xi’an, Shaanxi Province experienced hail, thunderstorms, and strong winds. Some residents reported that the newly opened T5 terminal at Xi’an Xianyang International Airport, also known as Xi’an Airport, suffered from leaks, turning it into a “water curtain cave”. Additionally, a resident in Ankang City, Shaanxi captured footage of what appeared to be two blue-green “dragons” hovering in the sky amidst flashes of lightning and thunder, sparking attention from many netizens.
According to a video posted by a netizen on the 8th, after a rainfall, the newly constructed T5 terminal at Xi’an Xianyang International Airport turned into a “water curtain cave”. The ceilings at the boarding gates shed large amounts of dust, causing asbestos and dust to fill the air, unfortunately, some people forgot to wear masks. The video shows significant water pooling on the ground.
A passenger told Jí mù xīn wén (Extreme News) that following the hail and heavy rain, passengers at the T5 terminal were unable to board their flights. While waiting in the terminal, they noticed leaks in several areas of the T5 terminal roof, “There were quite a few leaky spots, I wonder if there is a drainage issue”.
Around 10 pm on the 8th, a customer service representative at the airport mentioned that due to the earlier hailstorm, flights at the T5 terminal were delayed by about half an hour, but operations had since returned to normal. Concerning the leakage at the T5 terminal, the issue would be reported to the relevant airport departments for handling.
At 7:30 pm on May 8, the Xi’an Meteorological Observatory issued a yellow warning signal for thunderstorms with strong winds. Within the next 6 hours, gusts could reach level 7 or above, accompanied by thunder and lightning, and localized short-term heavy rainfall or hail, with hourly rainfall intensity of 10-25 millimeters.
Shortly after at 7:47 pm, the same observatory issued an orange warning signal for hail. It was predicted that within the next 6 hours, hail was likely to occur in more than ten districts and counties in Xi’an, possibly resulting in hail disasters.
It was reported that the T5 terminal at Xi’an Xianyang International Airport was officially put into operation on February 20th this year, which is less than three months ago.
Furthermore, a video captured by a netizen revealed that on that night in Xi’an, several large trees were knocked down by the wind, and some cars were damaged.
Moreover, at 10:10 pm on the same night, a resident in Ankang City, located in Shaanxi Province, filmed what seemed to be two blue-green “dragons” hovering in the sky amidst flashes of lightning and thunder. Adjacent to them, a section of the sky appeared peacock blue, which later transformed into purple.
The video sparked discussions among netizens. Many expressed their thoughts, such as “There are dragons”, “We live in a three-dimensional world, perhaps dragons are four-dimensional beings like oxygen in the air or radio waves, invisible to us but existing”, “Is this to vanquish evil spirits?” “Who has violated the laws of nature?” “What is that blue-purple light?” and “Later it turned into peacock blue”.
Additionally, some netizens pointed out a black dragon in the corner of the image, “That black dragon, going back and forth, can’t you see it?” One netizen responded, “This time, you can’t say it’s a kite, the way that black dragon is moving up and down.”
