Taiwanese artist Gui Biting, who gained attention for her role in the movie “Tiny Times,” recently revealed on the Chinese variety show “Riding the Wind 2024” (Sisters Who Make Waves 5) that she has a unique constitution. She is allergic even to white rice, to the point where her mouth would ulcerate severely.
In the show, Gui Biting mentioned that whenever she eats white rice, her body immediately starts itching. When she was young and had white rice, her skin would react with allergies, causing acne on her face. Initially, she mistook it for a common phenomenon during puberty, but after allergy testing, she found out it was food allergy-related. The most severe incident caused her mouth to ulcerate, leading to tearing wounds and unbearable pain.
Many Chinese netizens were surprised by Gui Biting’s allergy to white rice, with some commenting, “It’s the first time I’ve heard of an allergy to rice,” and “The world is full of wonders.”
While some expressed disbelief, even citing Gui Biting’s father’s remark that “she claims to be allergic to things she doesn’t want to eat,” other netizens shared their own experiences and those of their friends and family, such as, “My son is allergic to rice and had to eat potatoes for half a year,” “My friend’s child is allergic to rice and can only eat pasta and coarse grains,” and “A colleague in my company is also allergic to rice, it’s true.”
Furthermore, one netizen provided evidence, saying, “Our child is allergic to milk – he gets a fever when he drinks milk.”
At 40 years old, Gui Biting married the eldest son of Hong Kong entertainment tycoon Huang Wai-keung, Huang Zuo, in 2020, and they have two children. Starting her career as a model, Gui Biting rose to fame after starring in an advertisement for Dentyne chewing gum. In 2012, she gained widespread attention in China for her role as Nan Xiang in the youth film “Tiny Times,” directed by Guo Jingming.
After marrying Huang Zuo in 2020, Gui Biting gave birth to two children and subsequently reduced her workload. Recently, she participated in the recording of the fifth season of “Sisters Who Make Waves” (Sisters Who Make Waves 5), with some internet users noting the resemblance between her and her mother-in-law, Wayleihuang.
