Former Secretary of the Qian Dongnan Prefectural Committee of the Guizhou Province Communist Party, An Jiuxiong, has been expelled from the party and dismissed from public office after less than a year since his downfall was first announced. An Jiuxiong had previously served as the Deputy Secretary-General of the Guizhou Provincial Government and the Deputy Secretary-General of the Guizhou Provincial Committee.
On September 8, the Guizhou Province Discipline Inspection Commission announced the decision to expel An Jiuxiong from the party and strip him of his public position.
The report stated that An Jiuxiong had deviated from the correct view of political achievements, distorted his perception of power, engaged in political opportunism for personal advancement, participated in superstitious activities, sought benefits for others in terms of job promotions, and accepted gifts and money illegally. He also abused his authority to secure projects for relatives for personal gain, demonstrated excessive greed, and unlawfully accepted substantial sums of money in exchange for facilitating job promotions and fund allocations for others.
Public information reveals that An Jiuxiong was born in September 1976, belongs to the Dong ethnic group, and is a graduate of the Guizhou Provincial Party School of the Communist Party of China.
An Jiuxiong began his career in Shiqian County, Guizhou Province, holding various positions such as member of the County Discipline Inspection Commission, Director of the Office, and Deputy Director of the County Committee Office. In 2008, he became the Deputy Director of the Township Enterprise Bureau in Tongren District and was promoted to the Deputy Secretary-General of the District Office in 2010.
In 2011, An Jiuxiong was transferred to the Guizhou City Government as the Deputy Secretary-General, later promoted to Secretary-General in 2014. In 2016, he was appointed as the Deputy Secretary-General of the Guizhou Provincial Government and in 2017, he stepped down from this position to become the Deputy Secretary-General of the Guizhou Provincial Committee.
In August 2021, An Jiuxiong took on the role of Acting Governor of Qian Dongnan Prefecture, and the following month was officially appointed as the Governor, before eventually assuming the position of Secretary of the Prefectural Committee in February of the next year (while retaining the rank of Governor).
It is worth noting that on August 28 last year, Sun Zhigang, the former Secretary of the Guizhou Provincial Committee, was announced to have fallen from grace. Just over two months later, on October 20, An Jiuxiong, who had previously worked alongside Sun Zhigang, came under investigation.
