Guide to Macy’s Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular on July 4th

On July 4th, Independence Day in the United States, New York City, like many other areas across the country, will be hosting fireworks celebrations. The 48th Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks show will be returning to the Hudson River for the first time since 2013. New Yorkers can enjoy this event for free, making it one of the most exciting summer spectacles in the city.

According to information on Macy’s website, the Fourth of July fireworks show moved to the East River in 2013 but will now be back on the Hudson River, taking place along the Hudson River shoreline from West 14th Street to West 34th Street. This means residents from both Manhattan and New Jersey can witness the spectacle in person.

Macy’s will illuminate the night sky with over 60,000 fireworks in more than 30 different colors in a unique display. Accompanied by 25 minutes of specially curated music, the fireworks will feature highlights such as red and blue kaleidoscopes, cross rings, twinkling comets, waterfalls, Saturn rings, bursting flower cores, and colorful special-shaped fireworks.

Leading up to the event, the city of New York has distributed ten thousand tickets for Pier 45 and Pier 84, where ticket holders can have prime viewing spots. Additionally, there will be some free entry points, including:

– West 40th Street & 11th Avenue
– West 29th Street & 11th Avenue
– West 12th Street & Washington Street
– West 11th Street & Washington Street
– Christopher Street & Washington Street (ADA accessible)

Some of these locations may temporarily close as crowds increase, and attendees may be directed to other entry points.

Macy’s has also set up public viewing areas across the Hudson River in New Jersey at Maxwell Place Park and Stevens Park.

Due to the large number of people attending and limited parking spaces, it is advisable for the public to use public transportation when heading to viewing spots in Manhattan. The A/C/E trains can take you near West 29th and West 40th Streets, while the 1/2 trains can take you to other entry points for viewing.

For public safety reasons, certain items are prohibited from the viewing areas, including lawn chairs, blankets, tents, umbrellas, large backpacks, drones, weapons, alcoholic beverages, glass containers, picnic baskets, and flagpoles. If you prefer a comfortable viewing experience, you can purchase tickets for restaurants or bars along the route.

Furthermore, it is recommended that attendees bring an ample supply of water to cope with potentially high temperatures and humidity. Bringing a reusable water bottle for refills near the public viewing areas is also advised.

NBC and Peacock will be broadcasting the Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks show live for those who cannot attend in person. The viewing time is 8:00 PM on July 4th Eastern Time.
