Gathering Lee Jun-ho and Kim Sang-ki in “Cashero” to play special heroes.

Netflix announced today (April 18) that the South Korean series “Cashero” has officially started filming and released the latest cast photos. Starring Lee Jun-ho, Kim Hye-ah, Kim Byung-che, and Kim Hee-ki, “Cashero” is a series that redefines superheroes, incorporating elements of real-life society.

Adapted from the webtoon comic, “Cashero” depicts the life of the protagonist “Kang Chang-ho,” who possesses extraordinary superpowers. His abilities increase along with the wealth or cash he possesses. “Cashero” combines heroism with challenging social and economic issues, blending fantasy, action, comedy, and superpowers to captivate audiences.

Lee Jun-ho, a popular member of the South Korean boy band 2PM who has appeared in “Welcome to the Kingdom” and “The Red Sleeve,” portrays the protagonist “Kang Chang-ho,” a former civil servant. His superpowers are directly proportional to the cash he carries, adding a lot of fun and unpredictability to his pursuit of a better life and dreams.

Kim Hye-ah, known for her roles in “Kingdom of the Dead” and “Detective Cui Jing-yi,” plays Kang Chang-ho’s girlfriend “Kim Min-sook.” Skilled at analyzing and evaluating Chang-ho’s use of superpowers, Min-sook remains steadfast in supporting him, despite reservations about his self-funded use of abilities.

Kim Byung-che plays the lawyer “Byun Ho-jin” in the series, whose superpower is determined by how much alcohol he drinks. He is the representative of the Korean Superhero Association and recruits Chang-ho to fight against a mysterious anti-superhero alliance.

Joining them in the fight is Kim Hee-ki as “Bang Eun-ji,” whose superpower is activated based on the calories she consumes. Known as Bbang-mi, she is a fearless and outspoken ally, invaluable in missions.

Directed by Lee Chang-min, known for “The Proxies” and “Welcome to Waikiki,” “Cashero” is written by Lee Ji-rin and Jeon Chan-ho from “The Myth of Sisyphus.” The series will reinterpret superhero performance and grounded character personalities.
