Former Village Secretary in Changchun, Jilin Province, Stabbed to Death by Someone with Scissors

Recently, in a village in Yushu City, Changchun, Jilin Province, a criminal incident occurred, where a man stabbed another man to death with scissors. The victim was a former village official in the village.

According to surveillance footage uploaded by netizens on September 9, around 5 p.m. on the 8th, in an open space, one person was running while being chased by another person. Eventually, the man in a blue shirt caught up with the man in black, and a scuffle ensued. The man in the blue shirt eventually knocked down the man in black and proceeded to stab him multiple times with what appeared to be a sharp object.

The netizen who posted the video mentioned in the comments that the victim was a former secretary of Shuanghe Village, who succumbed to his injuries after receiving 11 to 12 stab wounds. The assailant also inflicted a few stab wounds on himself but survived.

Claiming to be a friend of the deceased, the netizen told Zonglan News that the assailant was a truck driver, and the conflict likely stemmed from a dispute related to mediating a traffic accident. The mediation process did not go smoothly, leading to the truck driver resorting to violence. Besides the former village official, two other individuals were injured, though not severely.

On the afternoon of the 9th, reporters from Zonglan News contacted the Chengfa Police Station of Yushu City Public Security Bureau. A staff member confirmed the incident and mentioned that the suspect had been apprehended. An official from the Chengfa Township government also stated that the conflict was indeed related to a traffic accident.

The incident has garnered attention online, with many netizens expressing varying opinions. Some remarked that “the victim may not necessarily have been a good person, and the assailant may not necessarily be a bad person.” Others emphasized the importance of upholding the law and preventing resorting to violence, advocating for thorough investigations to differentiate between right and wrong.

Some netizens questioned the assailants’ consideration of consequences before committing the act, expressing concern for their families and pondering the motives behind such violent actions. There were also references to past tragedies involving village officials and a general sentiment of societal unrest and loss of faith in the legal system leading to vigilantism.

As such news continues to surface, the prevailing sense of societal discord prompts individuals to exercise caution and prioritize peace and understanding in their interactions. The discussions online underscore the complexity of social issues and the importance of upholding justice and order in the face of escalating tensions.
