Former Vice Mayor of Hezhou City in Guangxi, Chen Hua, Expelled from Communist Party and Public Office

Former party committee member and deputy mayor of Hezhou City, Guangxi, Chen Hua, is suspected of taking bribes and has been expelled from the party and public office.

According to the report by the Guangxi Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision on June 21, Chen Hua is suspected of colluding with others to resist organizational scrutiny, engaging in extravagant and wasteful “image projects” and “achievement projects”; accepting gifts and cash, attending banquets and travel arrangements that may influence the fair execution of official duties; borrowing money for relatives from management and service targets; intervening in and meddling with market economic activities; arbitrarily interfering in engineering projects, using his position to profit others in project contracting and advancement, engaging in monetary transactions, illegally accepting substantial amounts of property, constituting severe breaches of duty and suspicion of bribery crimes. The crimes he is involved in have been transferred to the procuratorate for examination and prosecution, and the assets involved have also been transferred.

Chen Hua, 53 years old, has previously served as the deputy county magistrate of Zhaoping County, Guangxi, a member of the Party Committee and deputy county magistrate of Fuchuan County, a second-level inspector of Hezhou City, Guangxi, and deputy mayor and party committee member of Hezhou City, until he was investigated in January this year.
