Former Vice Chairman of the Heilongjiang Provincial CPPCC, Qu Min, faced trial for bribery on Wednesday (21st). He was accused of accepting nearly 70,000 yuan in bribes.
On August 21st, the Intermediate People’s Court of Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, publicly held the first trial of Qu Min, former member of the Heilongjiang Provincial CPPCC party group and vice chairman, for bribery.
The Wenzhou City Prosecutor’s Office alleged that from 2001 to 2022, Qu Min, taking advantage of his official position and the convenience formed by his power or status, directly or through his relatives, illegally accepted a total of more than 68.43 million yuan.
Qu Min pleaded guilty in court and expressed remorse. At the end of the trial session, the court announced an adjournment and set a date for sentencing.
In June 2023, Qu Min was under investigation, becoming the “first tiger” of Heilongjiang that year. He was expelled from the party on December 7th and arrested on December 26th. On May 15th this year, Qu Min was prosecuted for bribery.
Aged 61, Qu Min, a native of Shangzhi, Heilongjiang Province, has held various positions in the province.
He has served as the Director of Harbin Agricultural Science Research Institute, President of Harbin Agricultural Science Academy, Party Secretary and District Mayor of Hulan District in Harbin City, Director of the Limin Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee of Harbin, Deputy Team Leader of the Heilongjiang Province’s Aid-Xinjiang Cadres and Deputy Commander of the Front Command, Commander and Political Commissar of the Tenth Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, Mayor and Party Secretary of Beitun City in Xinjiang, Mayor and Party Secretary of Suihua City in Heilongjiang, and Vice Chairman of the Heilongjiang Provincial CPPCC.
