Former New York Governor Paterson Attacked in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

Former New York Governor David Paterson and his stepson were attacked near their home in Manhattan’s Upper East Side on Friday night (October 4th).

According to a statement from the Paterson family, the two men were attacked by “individuals who had previous contact with his stepson.”

“They both sustained some injuries, but managed to fend off the attackers,” the statement said.

Paterson, who is 70 years old and legally blind, was reportedly assaulted near 2nd Avenue and 96th Street, sustaining injuries to his face and head, as reported by the New York Police Department.

Following the assault, Paterson and his 20-year-old stepson Anthony Sliwa were taken to Weill Cornell Medical Center. As of now, no arrests have been made by the authorities.

In another statement, Paterson mentioned that he and Sliwa had returned home from the hospital on Saturday morning. He expressed his gratitude for the swift response of the police and the overwhelming support they have received.

Paterson assumed the position of governor after Eliot Spitzer resigned in 2008, serving until 2010.
