The Democratic National Convention (DNC) took place at the United Center in Chicago for four days. The theme of the third day was “Fighting for Our Freedom,” and the theme of the fourth day was “For Our Future.”
On the third day of the convention (21st), Democratic vice presidential candidate Walz and former President Clinton gave speeches.
During the meeting, former Democratic presidential candidate and Minnesota State Representative Phillips told Dajiyuan that his hope for the future is to encourage debate and not suppress competition. Former New York City Mayor Bloomberg believed that Harris should focus on economic issues; while Texas State Representative Greg Casa expressed support for Harris’ position.
Former Democratic presidential candidate and Minnesota State Representative Dean Phillips told Dajiyuan Times reporter that he was “glad” President Joe Biden withdrew from the 2024 presidential race, and he hopes both parties can stimulate debate rather than suppress competition.
Phillips said, “My hope for the future is that we can use common sense and ability to respect each other, encourage debate, and not suppress competition. When I say ‘we,’ I mean both parties, and I mean Americans. I believe they must start participating more respectfully in primaries, and no longer remain silent when the wrong things happen, when Americans see things with their own eyes, don’t cover up the truth but expose it, start cooperating, and not dividing.”
Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio predicted, “For Harris, New York will be a strong state supporting her.” He told NTD reporter Kelly Wright that Harris should focus on economic vision, lowering healthcare costs, and addressing inflation issues.
De Blasio stated, “I am looking forward to Harris. I believe she can bring a different political style. On the one hand, she can be a healer, but when you look at what she talks about – her economic vision, lowering healthcare costs, dealing with inflation – these are practical issues that are closely related to everyday life. In my opinion, this is the direction the Democratic Party must return to.”
Greg Casa (Texas State Representative) told NTD, “It has always been young people driving our democracy forward.” He stated support for Vice President Harris’ stance on hot topics such as the Gaza ceasefire and gun control.
