Foreign Model’s Privacy Leaked by Shanghai Hongqiao Airport Security Staff

On September 29, the incident of “Foreign Model’s Privacy Leaked by Security Personnel” was trending on social media platforms, sparking discussions among netizens.

On September 26, a netizen using the pseudonym Zhang Zan posted on a social media platform, saying, “Someone took a photo from the security check (machine’s point of view), found the reserved phone number for booking tickets, is it so easy to obtain this security check information?”

Zhang Zan, claiming to be a model agent, stated that on September 25, a model “flew from Shanghai to Guangzhou, and today (26th), someone already had a photo from the security check and, based on the reserved phone number for booking (mine), added me on WeChat, asking if I could provide the model’s contact information.”

In the WeChat chat screenshot shared by Zhang Zan, the other party mentioned, “Yesterday, my friend met her on the plane, thought she was nice, and then found her contact information through someone. The reserved phone number was yours, so they asked me to check with you.”

Zhang Zan also mentioned that the photos seemed to be taken from the facial recognition during the model’s security check.

According to Jiemu News, the woman whose personal information was leaked is a foreign model. “Models often encounter such situations (sexual harassment attempts), but using airport security check photos to contact someone, this is the first time for us. Previously, many would simply buy contact information from overseas websites.”

Based on the flight information provided by Zhang Zan, the model took Juneyao Airline’s flight HO1853 from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport to Guangzhou Baiyun Airport from 9:55 pm on September 25 to 12:15 am on September 26.

On September 27, a Jiemu Airlines customer service representative stated they were unaware of the incident and needed to verify it.

A staff member from the complaint hotline at Hongqiao Airport claimed, “Security personnel will absolutely not disclose passengers’ private information to the public and suggested reporting it to the police.” However, half an hour later, a Shanghai Hongqiao Airport staff member claiming to be the security team leader contacted Zhang Zan using a personal phone number and mentioned that the personnel involved would be dismissed.

The report mentioned that upon calling the complaint hotline at Hongqiao Airport again, staff confirmed the incident and stated, “The security department saw the post by the netizen through public opinion monitoring and has already provided feedback to Mr. Zhang after an internal meeting.” They also mentioned that the behavior of security department personnel using personal phone numbers to contact passengers was not meticulous.

This news has sparked discussions among netizens regarding the issue of personal privacy leaks and raised questions about regulatory oversight.

A netizen from Guangdong, “Messi_God_of_the_Earth_God_of_Humanity,” commented: “What privacy do we have left nowadays, with so many crimes happening under big data? Where is the supervision?”

A netizen from Shanghai, “User2851613,” said: “Leaking private information by security personnel is a criminal offense and should be handled by the police.”

A netizen from Sichuan, “Karawar,” shared: “After buying a house, many decoration companies called me. After selling the house, many real estate sales calls came in. After getting a debit card, many credit card and bank financial management calls followed.”
