Ford recalls 450,000 vehicles to take stock of a series of recalls in the United States.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that Ford is recalling over 456,565 compact SUVs and pickups in the United States due to potential power loss issues related to batteries. This is part of a series of recent vehicle recall events in the U.S.

The affected models include the Ford Bronco Sport SUVs produced between 2021 and 2024, and the Ford Maverick pickups produced between 2022 and 2023. According to NHTSA, undetected low battery levels could result in certain electrical components, such as hazard warning lights, malfunctioning or causing the affected vehicles to lose power, thus “increasing the risk of a crash.”

Owners of the recalled vehicles can expect to receive notification letters by May 13. Dealerships will recalibrate the body control module and powertrain control module free of charge to address this issue.

Aston Martin is recalling 2,902 DBX vehicles produced between 2021 and 2024. The company reported that cables in the battery fuse box may loosen, potentially causing the engine to stall, or the headlights and/or power steering to fail, increasing the risk of a collision.

In order to address this issue, Aston Martin dealers will inspect damaged fuses and cables, replacing all parts including fasteners if necessary. All repairs will be done free of charge. Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is recalling 29,092 vehicles due to the potential rupture of the wheel rim flange, leading to tire damage. If the tire is damaged, it could result in loss of vehicle control and an increased risk of a crash.

Hyundai is recalling 18,206 2024 Santa Fe vehicles. According to the NHTSA report, Hyundai stated that the rearview camera images may be obstructed by parking assist information. The obstruction of the rearview camera image can reduce visibility behind the vehicle for the driver and potentially increase the risk of a collision or injury.

NHTSA stated that the vehicles recalled by Hyundai do not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 111, “Rear Visibility.”

As a solution, Hyundai dealers will update the software of the rearview camera system. This update will be provided free of charge to affected drivers. Notification letters are expected to be delivered before June 1. Owners can call Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. The number of Hyundai vehicles recalled this time is 258.

Chrysler is recalling 12,221 2022 Jeep Cherokee vehicles. According to the NHTSA report, the automatic canceling function of the turn signal lights may not work properly. If the turn signal lights do not function correctly, it will fail to indicate the driver’s intention to change lanes, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

In addition, the NHTSA report indicates that these vehicles do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”

Drivers of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee can bring their vehicles to the dealership for inspection. Subsequently, technicians will replace the steering column control module free of charge. Chrysler has also recalled 26,776 2024 Pacifica and Voyager vehicles. Chrysler stated that when the cruise control system is activated, the traction control system (TCS) does not work. According to the NHTSA report, when the vehicle’s traction control system is inactive, it may increase the risk of a collision.

Chrysler dealers will update the TCS software on all affected vehicles free of charge. Notification letters are expected to be sent out by May 17. Owners can contact customer service at 1-800-853-1403. The recall number for this recall is 22B.

NHTSA announced an investigation into Ford’s recall of nearly 42,652 vehicles due to fuel injector ruptures leading to malfunctions. This could result in gas leaks and potentially cause engine fires.

In a summary report released last Thursday, NHTSA stated that an investigation is ongoing regarding recalls for Ford Broncos and Escapes vehicles.

Owners can bring their vehicles to Ford or Lincoln dealerships for free installation of drainage tubes according to the federal investigation notice. The remedy also includes a free update of the engine control software to detect pressure drops in the fuel injection system. In case of such an occurrence, the software will disable the high-pressure fuel pump, reduce engine power, and lower temperatures in the engine compartment. Owners will also receive a “request service” message.
