Recently on August 20, at the New York headquarters of the China Democracy Party, Chinese political prisoner Zhu Yufu expressed his feelings of relief and rejuvenation upon setting foot on the land of freedom in the United States. Due to years of being subjected to moldy rice and relentless mental torment in prison, Zhu’s stomach had long been afflicted with cancer. His stomach has now been completely removed, requiring him to receive direct nutritional support every two hours to sustain his life. Yet, in the free land of America, Zhu Yufu feels contented and increasingly energetic. He asserts confidently, “I will live to witness the downfall of the Chinese Communist Party!”
Sitting before an audience of Democratic Party members, many of whom were young individuals eager to learn about the anti-communist history from the veteran of activism Zhu Yufu, the 71-year-old hangzhou native recounted his journey as one of the founders of the China Democracy Party. Since his youth, he harbored a deep-seated resentment towards the autocratic rule of the Chinese Communist Party, aspiring to bring about a societal change that upholds human rights and dignity for every individual. In June 1998, amidst the visit of U.S. President Clinton to China, he and a few comrades applied to establish the China Democracy Party under the regime of the Chinese Communist Party. He subsequently endured three imprisonments, suffering in the clutches of the CCP for a total of 16 years.
For his steadfast refusal to “confess and accept punishment,” Zhu was subjected to brutal treatment, including being fed moldy rice that was unfit even for livestock, leading to the deterioration of his stomach and ultimately its total removal by the end of 2023. Despite the harrowing ordeal inflicted by the CCP in prison, Zhu Yufu’s anti-communist spirit remained unbroken. Upon his first release from imprisonment, he declared to the authorities, “I still want to come back, you have not confiscated my ‘tools of crime’ because my ‘tool of crime’ is what I speak, and speaking is deemed as a crime.”
Zhu Yufu vividly highlighted the oppressive conditions in China, where individuals live enslaved lives devoid of any freedom, all under the manipulative control of the Communist Party. He denounced the CCP’s parasitic nature, feeding off the blood and flesh of the Chinese people.
Despite skepticism and caution expressed by many when contemplating the establishment of the China Democracy Party, Zhu Yufu fervently advocated for its inception. Drawing an analogy, he likened their relationship with the CCP to being enclosed in a cage with a tiger – realizing that the tiger depends on them for survival and it’s time to challenge its dominance, expanding the boundaries of their activism. He stated, “Either you give us more space for our activities, or you might as well devour me. And if you do, we will tell the world: ‘This beast is still devouring people!'”
Zhu Yufu expressed his conviction that the international community, especially the United States, has begun to recognize the true nature of the savage beast that is the Chinese Communist Party. Incapable of competing with the U.S. on equal terms, the CCP relies on shameless deceit and infiltration tactics, but that facade is crumbling.
In Zhu’s eyes, the time for a profound transformation is imminent, reaching a critical juncture where the untenable status quo cannot be sustained any longer. He emphasized the significant difference between the current situation and the Tiananmen Square massacre of 1989, highlighting the heightened discontent among the populace due to widespread unemployment and economic struggles, which has created a landscape ripe with kindling waiting for the spark of change.
Zhu Yufu’s optimism for China’s future is unwavering as he firmly believes that the Chinese Communist Party is teetering on the brink of collapse. “I have faith in witnessing the day of the CCP’s demise,” Zhu declared. He entrusts in the power of justice, the international community, as well as the conscientious and talented individuals who can contribute to the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Filled with confidence, he asserts, “I will indeed live to see that day!”
