Flooding Triggered by Severe Rainfall, Rongjiang Village in Guizhou Accumulates Water with a Depth of 2 Meters, Exceeding the Height of a Sports Field.

Guizhou Rongjiang County was hit by heavy rain, as shown in multiple videos. The “Village Super Football Field” in Rongjiang County, a popular spot for internet celebrities, and the surrounding roads were flooded. Local officials confirmed that the water in the Village Super Football Field was two meters deep.

According to reports from mainland official media, from June 20th to 21st, Rongjiang County in Guizhou Province was hit by heavy rain, causing river water levels to rise rapidly, leading to road collapses, inundation of farmland, and water entering houses.

Jiupai News reported that a well-known football tournament, the Wugou Football Match in Rongjiang, was taking place recently. On June 22nd, the tournament account posted a video stating that due to flooding, the venue had been changed before ultimately reverting back to the Village Super Field.

Local publicity staff stated that due to the flooding, the Village Super Field’s playing area was submerged with water two meters deep, and relevant personnel had been evacuated. Officials from the local cultural and tourism bureau also confirmed that the Village Super Field was flooded.

Jimum News reported that the owner of a restaurant near the Village Super Football Field in Rongjiang said that around 9 a.m. on June 24th, he tried to check on his restaurant but found the surrounding roads were deeply flooded, making it impossible to reach. He saw his restaurant’s fridge floating near the entrance, indicating severe flooding inside.

Yang Yajiang, Vice Chairman of the Rongjiang County Football Association, also mentioned that due to continued heavy rainfall, both the Village Super Football Field and the surrounding roads were submerged.

“We had games scheduled for this weekend, but due to the prolonged heavy rainfall and flooding, we have decided to cancel and postpone them,” Yang Yajiang said.

An emergency evacuation notice was issued for parts of Rongjiang County in Guizhou, citing the severe flooding situation caused by continuous heavy rainfall and inflow from upstream. The water levels in Pingyong River, Zhaihao River, and Doliu River in the county are rapidly rising, leading to huge flood control pressure.

Around 1 a.m. on June 24th, the official decision was made by the authorities in Guizhou’s Rongjiang County to elevate the emergency response level from Level III to Level II, effective from 1:30 a.m. on June 24th.
