Flooding in Yunnan’s Fugong County triggers mountain landslide, at least 1 dead and 4 missing.

On March 18th, a landslide occurred at a location 8.2 kilometers away from Yamu River in Lumading Township, Fugong County, Nujiang Prefecture, Yunnan Province, causing 6 people to go missing.

According to a report by state media Xinhua News Agency, the landslide happened around 4:50 a.m. on the 18th. By 11 a.m., 2 people were rescued, one person was in stable condition, one person died, and 4 others remained missing.

The report mentioned that continuous heavy rainfall had been happening in Lumading Township, Fugong County since March 11th. As of 6 a.m. on the 18th, the accumulated rainfall reached 273.8 millimeters, triggering this disaster.

In the comments section of a video, some netizens mentioned, “It’s been thundering for 4 days,” and “My friend also encountered a mudslide in Fugong today, almost washed away, the car was taken to Xiaguan for repairs.”

Another netizen shared a video, stating that the continuous rainfall had caused the Nujiang River to turn muddy, with multiple small collapses along the Gongsan section of National Highway 219, urging passing vehicles to pay attention to safety.
