On September 6th, in Da Meng Village, Neiqiu County, Xingtai City, Hebei Province, a residential building storing fireworks and firecrackers exploded, creating a huge shockwave that shattered the glass of nearby street-side shops. An online user mentioned that even the signboard of the nearby police station was blown off.
According to online posts, videos from the scene capture continuous crackling sounds of firecrackers, followed by a loud bang that shattered the glass of nearby shops.
One netizen commented on the video section, saying, “The lower half (video) was filmed by my dad, the upper half was filmed by my dad’s colleague, and those are the glass windows of our village, some of which have been shattered. My dad was on the rotary side; his phone was even blown away by the explosion.” One video shows a comprehensive service hall signboard being blasted to the ground.
Several netizens mentioned, “Opposite this warehouse are the school dormitories,” “There is a gas station diagonally across,” “The police station of Da Meng is just tens of meters away,” “Even the police signboards were blown off.”
An eyewitness told Guizhou Broadcasting and TV Station “People’s Attention” that it was a residential building storing fireworks and firecrackers that exploded, with firecrackers crackling for a long time.
A nearby shop owner stated that the explosion was deafening, shattering all glass windows of nearby street shops. While they didn’t see any flames, the smoke was thick. “We couldn’t see the situation inside; they said it was storing fireworks and firecrackers, but we’re not sure. We could hear the firecrackers going off.”
In response, the Emergency Management Bureau of Neiqiu County issued a notification stating that at 11:12 on September 6th, a warehouse in Da Meng Village, Neiqiu County, illegally storing fireworks and firecrackers caught fire and ignited. There were no casualties. Currently, an investigation is ongoing into the related circumstances.
