“Fire EX.” Band: If You Love Taiwan, Don’t Be Afraid of Being Smeared

Taiwanese renowned band “Fire EX.” held their concert “Forever” at the Taipei Pop Music Center on the evening of the 15th. As the concert came to an end, the big screen displayed the words “Wishing you all the best, Taiwan,” with lead singer Sam Yang saying that everyone has their own way of protecting Taiwan and shouldn’t be afraid of being smeared.

In addition to the concert, “Fire EX.” also received nominations for their new album “Family Harmony Prosperity” at the 35th Golden Melody Awards for Best Band, Best Taiwanese Album, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year. When asked about the possibility of winning, “Fire EX.” expressed a humble attitude, stating that they are most excited about celebrating their 25th anniversary next year. They consider themselves a veteran band and being able to stand alongside modern outstanding bands is the greatest recognition they could receive.

During the performance of the song “Goodnight, Taiwan” on the evening of the 15th, the words “Wishing you all the best, Taiwan” appeared on the big screen. Sam Yang revealed that the decision to establish their company in 2015 was not to become bosses, but rather because after singing the Taiwanese song “Island’s Sunrise” inspired by the Sunflower Student Movement, they realized that “no one will touch artists without access to the Chinese market.” He emphasized that they do not seek greatness, but as long as they have fans by their side, the band can continue on.

Sam Yang also stated that “Taiwan is very important.” If you love this land, you must protect it in your own way, without worrying about being smeared or ridiculed.
