Philippine influential Chinese overseas leader, known as the “Steel King” Guo Congyuan and his driver were kidnapped and held for ransom a month ago. The spokesperson for the Philippine National Police (PNP) stated that there are still two fugitives, with a 26-year-old woman surnamed Gong from Hunan being a key figure.
On April 30, the spokesperson for the Philippine National Police, Farhad, mentioned that there are currently two fugitives, one man and one woman, both Chinese citizens. The female suspect, who goes by the aliases Wenli Gong, Huang Yanling, Kelly Tan Lin, was previously wanted by the authorities. The male suspect is Jonin Lim.
Farhad stated that Gong is a crucial figure in the case. According to confessions from the two captured suspects, Gong lured Guo under the pretense of buying a house, seized him, used his phone to contact his family, and initiated ransom negotiations. A reward of 5 million pesos (approximately 650,000 RMB) provided by “concerned individuals” has been offered for information leading to Gong’s whereabouts.
According to information released by the police, Gong is from Hunan, born in 1999, making her 26 years old this year.
The role of the other fugitive, Lin, is currently unconfirmed in the case. He was allegedly present at a residence in Bulacan province where Guo and his driver were unlawfully detained.
As of now, three suspects have been apprehended, including a Chinese national surnamed Liao who surrendered on April 19, and two Filipino suspects who were arrested subsequently.
On March 29, Guo Congyuan was kidnapped in Bulacan province. Despite his family paying a total of 210 million pesos (approximately 27 million RMB) in ransom three times, he was still held captive, and his driver Amani Pabillo was also murdered.
Their bodies were found on April 9 in a roadside bush in Nueva Ecija province. The two bodies were stuffed into nylon bags, with their heads wrapped in tape. Authorities revealed that there were signs of binding on the chest and arms of the bodies, indicating possible torture before death.
