Female Minister of the United Front Department in Kunming Reported Late at Night Before Falling from Power

On January 8th, the Communist Party of China’s Yunnan Province Kunming City Committee member and Minister of United Front Work Department, Zhou Hongbin, turned himself in for investigation. Just a few days ago, he was still participating in official activities.

Late in the night of January 8th, official reports indicated that Zhou Hongbin, the member of the Kunming City Committee and Minister of United Front Work Department in Yunnan Province, is suspected of serious violations of discipline and law, has voluntarily surrendered, and is currently under investigation.

Public reports show that on December 30, 2024, Zhou Hongbin participated in a collective study session, and made speeches and exchanges.

Zhou Hongbin was born in April 1966 and worked for many years in the Kunming discipline inspection and supervision system. He has served as the Deputy Secretary of the Kunming City Commission for Discipline Inspection and was appointed as the Secretary of the Xishan District Committee in February 2016.

In February 2019, she was promoted to Deputy Mayor, and in September 2021 she became a member of the City Committee, concurrently serving as the Minister of the United Front Work Department of the City Committee. This has continued until the recent investigation.
