On Monday, September 15, FBI Director Kash Patel stated that the suspect in the killing of Charlie Kirk wrote about the opportunity to murder the conservative activist, saying, “I will seize this chance.”
Patel revealed in an interview with Fox News on Monday that this information was written before the shooting incident last Wednesday, on the 10th. It is still unclear whether this information was written on paper or electronically, as Patel only mentioned “notes” and “text messages”. He mentioned that these writings were later “destroyed”, but were recovered by investigators.
Patel did not disclose the complete content of this information.
Furthermore, DNA test results indicated that 22-year-old suspect Tyler Robinson was present at the crime scene where Kirk was killed.
Patel mentioned that the knife used by the perpetrator and a towel wrapping the gun were found at the scene, and the DNA extracted from them matched Robinson’s DNA.
At the shooting scene at Utah Valley University, the police found a knife on a rooftop. They also discovered a dark-colored towel wrapping a .30-06 rifle at the site.
“Today, I can report that the DNA found on the towel wrapping the gun and on the knife has been confirmed, and this suspect has been apprehended,” said Patel.
He added that Robinson’s family informed investigators that Robinson “embraced a leftist ideology”. Patel did not elaborate on the specifics of this ideology.
The FBI director confirmed that they have interviewed Robinson’s live-in partner, who is cooperating with the police investigation.
The FBI confirmed last Saturday to English Epoch Times reporters that Robinson was living with a transgender partner, who is transitioning from male to female.
When referring to Robinson’s “leftist ideology”, Patel said, “We have learned some shocking things while speaking with his family and friends.”
Patel revealed that Robinson claimed in text messages that he had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk because he despised Kirk’s views.
The FBI also found an item resembling a handwritten note, reportedly left by Robinson in his apartment before the shooting incident. Although Patel claimed the “notes” were destroyed, forensic evidence was obtained by investigators, and the contents of the note were confirmed through questioning.
On September 10, Kirk was participating in a campus event at Utah Valley University. When asked about transgender shooters during the event, Kirk responded by saying there are “too many” of them. Shortly after answering this question, Kirk was shot at.
Kirk, 31, was rushed to a nearby hospital after being shot in the neck but was soon pronounced dead. Law enforcement immediately launched a large-scale manhunt for the suspect. On September 12, Utah authorities announced that the suspect was Robinson, who had been captured.
