FBI Continues Investigation into Attempted Assassination, Hopes to Meet with Trump

According to sources from the federal law enforcement department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is seeking to interview former President Trump to obtain victim statements as part of an investigation into an attempted assassination.

Fox News reported on Friday (July 26) citing sources that federal agents are seeking Victim Impact Statements, which is a routine procedure in such cases.

The FBI stated this week that it is dedicating significant resources to continue investigating the “heinous attack,” with investigators still examining bullet fragments and other evidence from the July 13 incident where Trump was attacked at a rally in Pennsylvania.

The statement noted that since the day of the attack, the FBI has consistently and clearly viewed the shooting incident as an attempted assassination of former President Trump, resulting in his injury, the death of a brave father, and injuries to several other victims.

FBI Director Christopher Wray testified to Congress on Wednesday (July 24) that there were still “some questions” regarding whether Trump was hit by bullets or bullet fragments.

Regarding his injuries, Trump responded on Thursday (July 25) on his social media platform, Truth Social, saying, “No glass, no fragments. Hospital called it ‘ear grazed,’ that’s the fact. No wonder the once prestigious FBI has lost the trust of the American people!”

Trump’s campaign team also responded to the FBI’s “questions” about his injuries.

CNN quoted Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung as saying, “Anyone who believes this conspiracy nonsense is either mentally deficient or deliberately spreading lies for political purposes.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson also expressed doubts about the FBI Director’s testimony.

NBC News quoted Johnson on Thursday saying, “We’ve all seen the video, have seen the analysis, from different angles and multiple sources saying a bullet went through his (Trump’s) ear.”

Despite later criticism from Republicans that the FBI has not reached a conclusion on the nature of the bullet that caused Trump’s injury, Wray received bipartisan praise for providing new detailed reports on the shooter in the Congressional hearing.

During Wednesday’s Congressional hearing, Wray shared the latest details on the attempted assassination of Trump, including 20-year-old shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks searching online for details of the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy before the incident, and flying a drone near the rally two hours before Trump took the stage.
