Sichuan Guangan Jiange County internet celebrity “Tang Feiji” crashed and died while live streaming a flight recently, with over a thousand viewers witnessing the tragic incident. According to villagers, “Tang Feiji” was a village secretary in the local area.
On the afternoon of the 28th, villager Li Gangqiang (alias) told Cover News that on the 27th of September at 4 p.m., he was watching “Tang Feiji” flying live on his phone at home when suddenly the plane in the video plummeted straight down and a fireball appeared at the crash site. Realizing that “Tang Feiji” was in trouble, he quickly went out, drove a three-wheeled vehicle to the village committee to get a fire extinguisher, and rushed to the crash site to help put out the fire.
“When we arrived at the scene, the person was still tied to the plane but was already beyond help,” Li Gangqiang said, mentioning that the plane crashed in a reverse position with “Tang Feiji” hitting the ground headfirst. He speculated that at the time of the crash, the plane was estimated to be less than ten meters above the ground, in the midst of a turn, possibly due to a problem with the propeller, leading to the crash.
Another villager mentioned, “His plane had propellers on both the top and bottom, which may have been too close together, causing entanglement.” He had warned “Tang Feiji” about the propeller issue before, but “Tang Feiji” dismissed it as not being a big problem.
This villager believed that the plane caught fire from the fuel tank after the crash, leading to the tragedy.
Reportedly, “Tang Feiji” was 55 years old, whose real name was Tang Zhengxing, and served as a resident cadre in Rongguang Village, residing in a settlement not far from the village committee. His WeChat screen name was “First Secretary of Rongguang Village, Yuhetown: Tang Zhengxing.” His plane was usually parked in an abandoned factory building next to the basketball court. The plane was about 1.8 meters high, 2 meters wide, and weighed around 115 kilograms. At the time of the incident, the small plane piloted by “Tang Feiji” crashed near a reservoir in an orchard, not far from the village committee.
Local villagers said that on the day of the incident, “Tang Feiji” drove the plane to a nearby orchard, as he was planning to replace a part of the aircraft.
According to the blogger “Make Helicopter” Zhu Haiyan, the plane that “Tang Feiji” crashed in was assembled by a netizen two years ago from parts purchased from his workshop and then sold to “Tang Feiji”.
Li Gangqiang introduced, “His plane was very heavy, and I helped him lift it several times.” “Tang Feiji” often flew around the village, which was dangerous, and the village was worried the plane might hit power lines or tree branches, issuing warnings to stop flying, but he always claimed it was not a big deal.
According to a fan account of “Tang Feiji”, in May of this year, during one flight, he had to make an emergency landing on a beach due to a malfunctioning fuel gauge, jokingly filming himself saying, “Just getting wet.”
Two months later, Tang Zhengxing crashed again due to an engine stalling, resulting in a broken rib. After the crash, Tang Zhengxing faced the live camera, reflecting, “The plane broke down, but I’m fine, lucky to be alive!”
After “Tang Feiji” died in the plane crash, the gates of the orchard have been locked, and the damaged plane has been towed away.
