【Epoch Times News, November 27, 2025】

On the afternoon of November 26, at around 5 pm, a large explosion occurred near Lu Tian Temple Primary School in Zhaoqiao Township, Qiaocheng District, Haozhou City, Anhui Province. Although videos had been circulating online earlier, Chinese media only began reporting on the incident close to noon today (27th). It is reported that the explosion was caused by a government operation mistake during the centralized destruction of fireworks and firecrackers, with the current number of casualties still unknown.

Early today (27th), videos on Chinese social media revealed that a large explosion had taken place near Lu Tian Temple Primary School in Zhaoqiao Township, Qiaocheng District, Haozhou City yesterday evening. The videos showed a mushroom cloud rising at the scene after a series of explosions.

Another video displayed exposed building reinforcement, collapsed walls, and a large amount of brick and rubble scattered on the ground at the scene.

Surveillance from a village about two kilometers away from the explosion point also captured the deafening noise at the time, with doors and windows directly shattered by the impact, causing noticeable tremors.

A villager three kilometers away from the site told an Epoch Times reporter that the explosion occurred due to a government operational mistake during the centralized destruction of fireworks and firecrackers at around five in the afternoon.

“It was a lot, they bundled them together, too much, the mistake in operation caused it, the glass and door at my home shattered, it was just a loud sound, happened instantly.”

After the incident, Chinese media remained silent for a while. It wasn’t until around 11 am today (27th) that a video report by Pongbu News, a flourishing media outlet in China, stated that on the afternoon of November 26 around 5 pm, a group of people in Qiaocheng District, Haozhou City, Anhui, posted videos claiming a sudden explosion had occurred. Within a few kilometers, the impact shattered glass, shook residents’ doors, and roller shutters.

The media reporter contacted the Emergency Management Bureau in Qiaocheng District by phone, and the staff responded that relevant leaders and personnel were handling the situation on-site with no reports of casualties. When asked about whether there was a prior plan to destroy fireworks and firecrackers, the staff mentioned that specific details would be provided after further processing.

A villager speaking to Epoch Times stated, “There should be casualties, there are personnel at the scene, the exact number is unknown.” The villager mentioned that the area was sealed off, and the government was assessing the extent of damage to houses within a radius of three kilometers, indicating significant damage to several residences.

Attempts by an Epoch Times reporter to contact the governments of Qiaocheng District and Zhaoqiao Township for updates on the situation proved unsuccessful as the calls could not be connected.
