Explosion at Madrid Bar Leaves 25 Injured

On Saturday (September 13), an explosion occurred in a bar in Madrid, the capital of Spain, resulting in 25 people injured, three of whom are in serious condition. The cause of the explosion is still unknown.

The emergency services department stated that the explosion took place at 3 pm on Saturday in the Vallecas district, located in the south of Madrid. Following the incident, emergency rescue personnel quickly arrived at the scene and deployed search and rescue dogs and drones to provide additional support. The apartments above the bar were also affected.

The Madrid emergency rescue department posted on the social media platform X, stating that firefighters were clearing the debris of the bar in the Vallecas neighborhood of the capital and shared videos showing parts of the bar’s ceiling collapsing and bricks scattered on the ground.

Search and rescue dogs are also searching in the rubble.

The emergency rescue department reported that civil defense and medical departments have provided treatment for 25 individuals, with three in “serious” condition and two in a condition that “may be serious.”

According to Reuters, a resident named Victor who lived in the building where the bar was located recalled the terrifying experience, stating, “It was so terrifying, everything shook when the explosion happened, like an earthquake or something, and then everything went silent, and then people started to come closer to the explosion site from that corner and everywhere.”
