【Epoch Times news on October 15, 2024】:Chairman Wu Chengwen of the National Science Council of the Republic of China stated that a key factor in the success of Taiwan’s semiconductor industry is the government’s efforts in developing science parks, and the close collaboration between science parks, local universities, and research institutions. The government, academia, and research community form a strong development force known as the “iron triangle.”

Chairman Wu Chengwen of the National Science Council of the Republic of China posted on Facebook on the 14th that on National Day, he attended the National Day ceremony in front of the Presidential Office in the morning and was interviewed by Bloomberg in the afternoon, with the official broadcast taking place on the 14th. In the interview, they were particularly interested in the role played by science parks in Taiwan’s successful semiconductor manufacturing industry, and whether Taiwan intends to bring the science park model to assist friendly countries around the world as Taiwan’s semiconductor industry expands internationally.

Wu Chengwen mentioned in the interview that one of the important factors contributing to the success of Taiwan’s semiconductor industry is the government’s efforts in developing, operating, and managing science parks. Furthermore, the close collaboration between science parks, local universities, research institutions, and the planning of industry development direction and government science and technology policies are all crucial. The semiconductor industry in Taiwan is closely linked with the government and academia, forming a solid development force.

Wu Chengwen also discussed how the success of TSMC can be sustained and how Taiwan can help establish successful semiconductor industries worldwide with limited resources. He emphasized that these are purely his personal opinions. He hopes to use this opportunity to promote Taiwan to the world and make the international community better understand Taiwan’s positive contributions to the world.
