Exclusive: Guangdong’s frequent cases of civilian killing officials revealed.

On July 5th, in Jianshi Town, Chao’an District, Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province, the village secretary and his son were killed. The village secretary was killed on the spot. The murderer attempted suicide by drinking pesticide but failed. Both the murderer and the village secretary’s son are currently receiving treatment in the hospital. Currently, there is no information available online and the authorities have not issued any official statements.

According to a villager named Wu Qiang (alias) from Guocuo Village, Jianshi Town, “The murderer had a small shop near Hongcuo Plaza in Jianshi Town. He had set up a tin shed at the door of the shop, which was demolished by the town government, stating it was affecting the city’s appearance. The tin shed was built three months ago, costing 9,000 yuan. He borrowed the money, paid back 5,000 yuan, and still owed 4,000 yuan. It was demolished three days before the murder on July 2nd. The murderer was a poor man who had borrowed money to build the shed and it was quite tragic.”

Wu Qiang revealed that on July 5th, the murderer went to the village secretary’s house where the village secretary and his son were at home. The village secretary was stabbed over 30 times and died on the spot, while his son was seriously injured. The murderer then went to his father’s grave and attempted suicide by drinking pesticide, which was unsuccessful. The current condition of the murderer and the village secretary’s son in the hospital is unconfirmed.

Moreover, Wu Qiang disclosed that the village secretary, aged 61, and the murderer, aged 59, shared the same family name. “The murderer was poor, so many people approve of the killing of the village secretary. I discussed the murder incident in the comments section, and my posts were deleted by the platform.”

Another villager revealed to a reporter that when passing by the village secretary’s house on July 7th, there were many security guards standing at the entrance. A new secretary named Luo has now been appointed. “The murderer had set up a small shed in front of his shop like a food stall for cooking, which was demolished. In anger, he went to the village secretary’s house and killed him.”

Several villagers were contacted by a reporter from Epoch Times, confirming the incident of the village secretary’s murder, but they dared not speak out for fear of reprisal. One villager sent a video to the reporter, which was immediately deleted, fearing that their account might be suspended.

Calls made to the security director of Guocuo Village went unanswered. Calls to the Jianshi Town government were answered but immediately hung up, with subsequent attempts resulting in the same response.

In recent years, incidents of Chinese citizens killing officials have been frequent, with the authorities tightly controlling information, and the truth of cases often circulating among the public.

At the beginning of this year, the “returning farmland to forests” campaign was carried out in Lianping County, Heyuan City, Guangdong. Each town was led by the town mayor to forcibly cut down fruit trees planted by villagers. However, after only three days of the campaign, a villager in Longjie Town in the county used a knife to attack the town mayor, prompting an immediate halt by the authorities.

Li Ping, a villager from Huixi Village in Shangping Town, disclosed that during the campaign, town mayors personally led teams, marking their own red lines and forcefully removing fruit trees, resulting in immeasurable losses for the villagers. The government’s compensation was extremely low, leading to unanimous opposition from villagers. For instance, only 240 yuan was compensated for a large peach tree, and only 600 yuan for a mu of tree seedlings.

Li Ping explained that the operation in Huixi Village took place on January 10th, 11th, and 12th. Initially, the government used excavators, but villagers stood in front of them to block the removal. On the third day, a new tactic was employed using chainsaws to cut down the trees, with more people preventing villagers from approaching the trees. “For the first two days, the forcible removal of fruit trees continued until 6 p.m., but suddenly on the 12th, they all left by 4 p.m.”

The villager highlighted that initially, everyone was puzzled by the sudden evacuation, but a few days later, they learned that the reason for stopping the tree cutting was due to a villager in the neighboring Longjie Town attacking the town mayor with a knife, though the mayor’s fate was unknown.

Li Ping revealed, “The villager who attacked the mayor cultivated tangerine trees that have been running at a loss every year. But this year, prices were high, and the government did not provide any leeway. Without negotiation, they forcibly cut down the trees, leading to a life or death confrontation resulting in the mayor’s attack.”

“At the beginning, information was tightly controlled, but gradually it reached our village. The exact details were not disclosed, and we cannot get precise information,” Li Ping stated.

Several residents of Longjie Town were contacted by Epoch Times reporters in an attempt to uncover the truth behind the attack on the mayor, but they remained silent, afraid to speak up.

Li Ping expressed that the government’s “returning farmland to forests” initiative has two main objectives: to boost their political achievements and to seize farmland from farmers for subsidies.

Calls to the Lianping County government were unsuccessful.

On July 25, 2024, in Mashan Village, Liusha South Street, Puning City, Jieyang City, Guangdong Province, the village secretary, Huang Songqi, was killed by a villager named Huang Guohuan at a courier point.

According to sources, the suspect is a villager from Mashan Village. The trigger for the incident was a death certificate. Recently, the suspect’s father passed away, and according to local customs, it was necessary for the village cadre to issue a death certificate for the funeral arrangements. However, the village cadre seemed indifferent and even caused difficulties, leading to the suspect’s anger and helplessness. The long-standing resentment eventually erupted into an irreversible tragedy.

From Huang Guohuan’s appeal document, the reason for the village secretary’s murder can be seen. Huang Guohuan went to the village office to obtain a death certificate for his father who passed away the previous day, as well as to claim compensation for his father’s land. However, Village Secretary Huang Songqi evaded responsibility and refused to process the death certificate or provide an explanation for withholding land compensation. Despite inquiries to various departments, the village officials ignored his questions, giving him no response. The inaction of the village officials shattered Huang Guohuan’s mental defenses.

Huang Guohuan was burdened with debts for his father’s medical treatment. Devastated by his father’s death and his mother’s hospitalization, he encountered obstruction and excuses from Huang Songqi and other staff members. Upon seeing Huang Songqi at the courier point, he stabbed him with a fruit knife. Subsequently, Huang Guohuan made two calls to the police and dialed 120 for emergency assistance. The police and emergency services arrived over half an hour later, by which time Huang Songqi had bled to death. Huang Guohuan was sentenced to death in April of this year and has since appealed.

Former Beijing lawyer and chairman of the Canadian Alliance, Lai Jianping, expressed to Epoch Times, “These incidents are actually an inevitable product of the CCP’s authoritarian rule, which has driven the Chinese people to a dead end, oppressing their basic living space. Especially at the grassroots level, those village officials, village tyrants, prey on and exploit their neighbors. Therefore, it stirs up the most oppressed and exploited people at the bottom of society to rise up in resistance.”

“They take irrational and drastic actions to defend their rights and dignity,” Lai Jianping stated, “In the authoritarian social environment of the CCP’s one-party rule, the grassroots common people in China have no legal means and no rational ways to defend their rights. Even when they are oppressed to the extreme by these village bullies, they have no legal methods to protect their basic rights and dignity. Therefore, they can only resort to such resolute and irrational ways of resistance and struggle.”

Lai Jianping also pointed out, “As the CCP’s rule deepens and the comprehensive outbreak of political and economic crises, the oppression and enslavement of various aspects of the lower levels of society continue to escalate. Consequently, the resistance and rebellion of the bottom-level society will intensify. The continuous occurrence of such incidents in recent years indicates that the entire Chinese society and politics have become so dark and corrupt that it can devour people.”
