Ethan Ruan Reveals Beloved Dog Gained 5 Kilograms, Seeks Handsome Companion for Wilderness Survival

Taiwanese actor Chen Bolin attended Earth Day activities today with his Shiba Inu, Afuri. Since hosting the show “Extreme Island Forest,” Chen has been paying more attention to environmental protection. As the host of Discovery’s World Earth Day special, Chen not only shared behind-the-scenes stories of the program but also revealed Afuri’s story of gaining weight.

Chen Bolin appeared on the streets of Taipei this afternoon with his important companion from the show, Afuri, at a press conference. Referring to Afuri, he jokingly said, “I think everyone has noticed that Afuri has gained at least 5 kilograms recently,” and jokingly reminded the dog to “watch his figure.”

“In Extreme Island Forest 2,” Chen Bolin and Shiba Inu Afuri invited many celebrity friends to explore the hidden gems of Taiwan. The program showcases ecological conservation actions such as cherry salmon restoration, rescuing injured pangolins, and removing invasive species, with the participation of celebrity friends.

During the press conference for “Extreme Island Forest 2” on World Earth Day, Chen Bolin was asked which celebrity friend he would most like to take on a 21-day wilderness survival challenge with. He immediately chose “National Brother-in-law” Gu Junye, praising his excellent cooking skills and expressing his desire to continue learning from him during this time, as well as practicing Korean to improve his language skills.

Furthermore, Chen Bolin, known for his lively and masculine image, shared his reflections on the program. He recounted an experience in which he and Huang Xuan and Hou Yansi went to Xitou to participate in thinning cypress trees. As they collectively pushed down the trees, he felt a sense of taking lives, but understood it was necessary for the forest’s development. This dilemma left a profound impact on him.

Having only glimpsed environmental issues through textbooks or the news before, filming “Extreme Island Forest 2” allowed Chen to truly engage with the environment firsthand. This experience deepened his appreciation for the beauty of the environment, as well as the struggles and vulnerabilities of natural ecosystems. He realized the importance of doing “good deeds” to save the Earth.
