“Entire proceeds of online live streaming by Quan Hong donated to rural children amount to 43,000 yuan.”

On the evening of November 12th, Chinese diving Olympic champion Quan Hongchan went live on the internet after more than 4 years, chatting with teammates and online followers. In less than an hour, she earned over 43,000 yuan (RMB) and donated all the income to rural children.

Following the conclusion of the diving events at the National Games, Quan Hongchan returned to the Guangzhou Training Center in Ersha. Around 9 p.m. on the 12th, she unexpectedly started a live stream in her dormitory, chatting online with Olympic champion teammates Chen Aisen and Chen Yiwu.

Quan’s account has 18 million fans, but she has only live-streamed twice since its creation. The first time was in August 2021, after Quan won the women’s 10m platform gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, interacting with online followers.

This time, Quan Hongchan hosted a personal live stream that was much more relaxed than the first one. She wore a light blue pajama set with a matching headband, chatting and interacting with teammates and online followers.

During the live stream, many viewers showered Quan with gifts. She continuously bowed to the camera, thanking them, “Thank you, boss! Wishing the boss good fortune.”

Her humorous antics amused online followers: “So Guangdong, the first thing I do when receiving a gift is wish the boss good fortune.”

The live stream lasted less than an hour, with over 600,000 viewers tuning in to watch Quan Hongchan. At 10 p.m., she promptly ended the stream, saying, “It’s bedtime in the dormitory.”

Quan Hongchan’s earnings from this live stream totaled 43,598.6 yuan, all of which she donated to rural children, proudly displaying the donation proof.

On November 13th, news of Quan Hongchan’s live stream became a hot topic on social media, with many regretting not seeing it live. They left comments wishing her well and asking for advance notice for future live streams.

During this National Games, Quan Hongchan, who made a comeback after half a year, participated in the 10m platform team event and the synchronized diving event. She performed steadily in the team event, winning the gold medal with partner Wang Weiyi. However, she made mistakes in the 10m synchronized event and finished 5th.

After the competition, Quan Hongchan admitted in an interview that her current condition is undoubtedly not as good as before. As for whether she will compete again in the future, she is uncertain.

On November 12th, Quan Hongchan shared behind-the-scenes photos of her participation in the National Games on Weibo, captioning it, “No road travelled is in vain; right or wrong, they are all my footprints.” This post sparked discussions among her followers.
