Enterovirus outbreak reaches record high in nearly a decade; Vice President Chen Chien-jen alerts about immunity deficit, urging frequent hand washing.

As the weather gets warmer, the season for enterovirus is approaching in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Mayor Chen Chi-mai pointed out that the predominant virus strain in Kaohsiung is Coxsackievirus A. Although the current number of cases has not reached the expected high values, it is still the highest for the same period in nearly 10 years. He is concerned that the immune debt caused by the COVID-19 (CCP virus) pandemic may increase the risk of a major outbreak.
