Engine Sucked in Foreign Object? Shandong Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Nanjing

On June 27, a Shandong Airlines flight from Qingdao to Shanghai reportedly experienced a mechanical failure due to what appeared to be foreign object ingestion in the left engine mid-flight, prompting an emergency landing in Nanjing. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

The flight, numbered SC4667, took off from Qingdao, Shandong at 3:22 PM on the 27th, originally scheduled to arrive in Shanghai at 4:50 PM. However, an emergency situation arose during the journey, and the aircraft landed at Nanjing Lukou International Airport at 4:26 PM.

A passenger shared on social media that while the plane was cruising, it seemed like something was sucked into the left engine, causing the aircraft to sway approximately 10 degrees left and right. There was a burning smell for about 5-10 minutes before the captain announced the emergency landing in Nanjing.

According to passengers interviewed by Southern Metropolis Daily, Shandong Airlines did not disclose the specific cause of the malfunction but offered a compensation of 400 yuan.
