Elon Musk wants to cut three-quarters of federal agencies?

Hello everyone, welcome to “News Perspectives”, I am Li Xin.

Today’s focus: Shocking revelations behind the Zhuhai incident, Xi Jinping in panic; Unconventional moves by Trump, appoints media figure as Defense Secretary; Ally Ratcliffe chosen as CIA director; Trump’s favorites Musk and Vivek to lead government efficiency department; Xi orders to unite against Musk? Will the PLA accelerate actions against Taiwan?

China is currently experiencing economic downturn, deep social unrest, and retaliatory incidents are happening frequently. The recent events in Zhuhai have captured the attention of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) General Secretary Xi Jinping, prompting an urgent directive from State Council Premier Li Qiang to calm community disputes nationwide. The high-level concern within the CCP leadership indicates that the situation behind this incident is far from simple.

Around 8 p.m. on November 11th, a 62-year-old man named Fan drove an off-road vehicle into the track at the Zhuhai Sports Center in Guangdong, indiscriminately ramming into a crowd of people out for exercise. Eyewitnesses on the scene estimate that the number of casualties has already exceeded one hundred!

Mainland media figure Zhao Lanjian wrote on X platform that the perpetrator, who caused the deaths of over fifty innocent individuals, did so as a form of social retaliation due to his child’s illness and unemployment.

On the evening of the 12th, the Zhuhai Public Security Bureau reported a “major malicious incident” at the Guangdong Zhuhai Sports Center the previous night, resulting in 35 deaths and 43 injuries. The investigation revealed that the male suspect surnamed Fan drove his vehicle into the crowd because he was dissatisfied with the property division following a divorce. While the police managed to restrain him after the incident, he was severely injured from self-mutilation and couldn’t be interrogated. He is currently under investigation.

Many netizens questioned the police’s explanation: “You already know the reason when the perpetrator is unconscious? Are you the King of Hell or a deity?” “Speak responsibly, have you thoroughly investigated the cause?” “There must be hidden motives behind the strict investigation of this case.”

It seems that netizens nowadays are very discerning and not easily deceived, as insiders have revealed deep-seated motives behind this incident. A circulating image online, posted by the username “Headlines”, questions why the initial report mentioned 35 casualties, listing official reports of 12 major accidents, all citing 35 deaths without fail. The author explains that in major human-related accidents involving over 35 fatalities, the secretary of the municipal party committee must be immediately removed from office, hence official reports typically cap the death toll at 35 to avoid higher-level accountability.

Therefore, it’s almost certain that in cases where the official announcement mentions 35 deaths, the actual death toll is likely far higher than 35.

BBC correspondent Stephen McDonell reported from the scene of the incident in Zhuhai and encountered unidentified individuals obstructing the coverage. Why would authorities prevent reporting? Sources reveal that most of those affected in the Zhuhai incident were retired officials enjoying high government pensions. This has drawn the attention of Chairman Xi, while the common people may be left ignored.

Furthermore, account “Daniel Fang” posted on the 13th, stating that the suspect’s name is Fan Jianguo, a retired military official and party secretary of the Golden Bay District Veterans Affairs Bureau in Zhuhai, holding a high-ranking position. However, some netizens doubt that someone of this status, enjoying government benefits, would willingly sabotage his future by causing harm.

Other users in the comment section mentioned that the perpetrator’s name is not Fan Jianguo but Fan Weiqiu, providing an electronic medical record showing injuries. It was pointed out that the suspect deliberately purchased a vehicle for the attack, with pictures showing him buying the car on the 4th and picking it up on the 11th. Notably, the customer’s name in the image is also Fan Weiqiu, indicating that the suspect might be Fan Weiqiu rather than a party secretary or bureau director.

Though the suspect’s identity remains unconfirmed, his target was retired senior civil servants, considered the happiest group in the current CCP with monthly allowances of 20,000 RMB. This likely stirred Xi Jinping and Li Qiang, causing high-level anger. Previously, acts targeted Americans, Japanese, and now officials within the CCP system. If more people learn the truth and imitate such actions, the CCP may face a major crisis, with every citizen becoming a target.

It’s worth noting that account “News Investigation” shared a picture indicating that the Zhuhai Special Zone newspaper on the 12th completely omitted the tragic event of the 11th, as if it never occurred. Such a significant tragedy with heavy casualties, yet the local newspaper turned a blind eye, a phenomenon unique to China and truly tragic.

Now shifting to the latest appointments by US President-elect Trump. Even before taking office, Trump has made a series of announcements in his capacity as President, one after another. On Tuesday, November 12th, Trump declared the nomination of military veteran Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense to lead the Pentagon.

Hegseth is a conservative figure, a Princeton University graduate with a Harvard postgraduate degree, and a combat veteran of the US military, having served in Guantanamo, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and possessing medals and endorsements. He has been a Fox News host for the past eight years, advocating for the military and veterans, criticizing the left for betraying servicemen, advocating for elite and outstanding standards in the military. He has led veterans’ interest groups, always fighting for servicemen and a “peace through strength” policy.

In his statement, Trump praised Hegseth as a strong and intelligent believer in ‘America First’, emphasizing that with his leadership, America’s enemies will take notice, and the military will regain its greatness, never backing down.

On the same day, Tuesday the 12th, Trump announced that John Ratcliffe, former Director of National Intelligence (DNI) at the end of his first term, would return to the intelligence community to head the CIA. Ratcliffe, a loyal ally of Trump, previously served as a federal representative in Texas. When he was the DNI, Ratcliffe stated that China is the biggest enemy to the US since WWII, posing a threat to US and global democracy and freedom, referring to China as a thief, stealing American technology and unlawfully suppressing Uighur rights.

Through a statement, Trump said Ratcliffe will be a fearless champion defending all constitutional rights of Americans while ensuring the highest level of national security, using strength for peace.

The appointment to the position of CIA Director requires Senate approval, and with the Republicans securing a majority in the Senate during the recent election, Ratcliffe’s return to the intelligence community seems highly likely.

The most anticipated and significant appointment on that day, November 12th, was when Trump named his two favorites, Musk and Vivek, to head the newly established Government Efficiency Department. This long-awaited institution will assist the President in enhancing government efficiency and streamlining government agencies. Musk and Vivek are both business management geniuses, with one being the world’s richest and a business legend, and the other a self-made billionaire with a biochemistry degree from Harvard and a law degree from Yale.

Trump announced with pleasure that the great Musk would collaborate with the patriotic Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), aiming to dismantle bureaucratic structures, cut unnecessary regulations and wasteful spending, and restructure federal agencies. This is crucial for the “Save America” movement.

Their mission is to achieve goals of reducing wasteful expenditure and downsizing federal bureaucracies before the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026, as a “gift” to America.

Trump said, “We will eliminate the massive waste and fraud present in the $6.5 trillion government expenditure annually. They will work together to unleash our economy and make the US government accountable to the people.”

Musk and Ramaswamy have already responded to the appointment. Musk stated, “This will cause significant shock in the system, especially to those involved in government waste, of which there are quite a few.” Ramaswamy said, “We won’t go easy on them.”

In an interview with Tucker Carlson, Musk explicitly mentioned that there are approximately 428 federal agencies in the U.S., and he believes 99 federal agencies are sufficient. Calculating, he aims to trim down to 3/4 of the federal agencies, which, by 2023, would leave around 2.26 million federal employees facing possible layoffs. With a deadline set before July 4, 2026, there is only a year and a half to accomplish this task. Clearly, the determination of the Trump administration to drain the Washington swamp and restore America’s greatness is resolute.

In the new Trump administration, key figures are mainly hardliners towards China, tough hawks, how will the CCP cope with Trump 2.0? It seems the CCP has found a way to tackle the crisis – through united front work, with a clear target being the influential figure Musk around Trump.

Exiled Chinese writer Yuan Hongbing cited inside sources to People’s Republic of China, revealing that Xi Jinping has issued orders to the CCP’s Foreign Ministry and United Front Work Department at least twice to exploit the U.S. election to create social divisions. Although unsuccessful now, Xi is embarking on a new strategy to intensify united front efforts and win over Musk. If Musk joins Trump’s cabinet in the future, he could well become a Trojan horse hidden within the U.S. government for the CCP.

Many have recently noticed that Musk’s mother, Maye Musk, is highly popular in China. Following the U.S. election, Maye Musk appeared in China, serving as a global ambassador for a mattress brand in Zhejiang. During a promotional event in Shanghai on the 8th, she was accompanied by renowned presenter Yang Lan throughout. While Yang Lan is publicly known as a host, her actual background remains unknown.

Yuan Hongbing mentioned that internal CCP sources warned that Xi Jinping will not only give up the 2027 invasion of Taiwan but will accelerate war preparations. With Trump expected to initiate a trade war, a major economic crisis is inevitable, along with the end of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the strained China-Russia relationship, Xi Jinping may seek war for survival.

Of course, can the CCP’s plans succeed? Is Musk so easily swayed or manipulated? Does the PLA have the capability to invade Taiwan? It might not be as straightforward. However, on the other hand, united front work is a key specialty of the CCP. Back when the Kuomintang besieged the CCP, several critical moments arose, and it was united front work that saved them, eventually pushing the Nationalists to retreat to Taiwan and the CCP occupying mainland China. Now facing encirclement once more, can the CCP’s key skills help them survive in a dire situation? When it comes to united front work and manipulation of human nature, no one does it better than the CCP. Whether you like women, money, power, or fame, everyone has weaknesses that the CCP can exploit. Additionally, modern tactics such as eavesdropping, recording videos, or using drugs can always capture your vulnerabilities. After all, Musk still has a factory in Shanghai, so let’s wait and see.
