Elon Musk claims to agree with Trump on 80% of issues.

In an interview recently, Elon Musk, senior adviser to US President Trump and CEO of Tesla, stated that he agrees with the President on 80% of the issues. The interview was conducted on the Fox News Channel’s program “My View with Lara Trump” last Saturday (May 3rd).

Musk told Lara Trump, the President’s daughter-in-law, that he considers the President to be his friend. He mentioned that they get along very well and that if asked the same question in separate rooms, they would give about 80% similar answers. According to Musk, although they are not always in complete agreement, in areas such as eliminating waste and fraud in government and ensuring the rule of law, their views align.

Musk’s special role in the Trump administration is set to expire on May 30th. He informed Tesla investors at the end of last month that he plans to reduce his working hours in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to focus more on his other companies.

He mentioned that he intends to decrease his workload at DOGE to 1-2 days per week. When asked if this arrangement would eventually come to an end, Musk stated that it would be decided by the President.

President Trump later invited Musk to stay at the White House for as long as he wanted, adding a humorous remark that one day Musk might want to go home and take care of his cars.

President Trump praised Musk’s leadership at DOGE for cutting federal government spending by $150 billion and hinted that ongoing projects could double or triple this figure. In January, Musk had mentioned that the best outcome would be a reduction of federal spending by $2 trillion.

Under Musk’s leadership, DOGE has significantly reduced the size of the federal government workforce. A report from last week showed that nearly half of the government layoffs in the first four months of 2025 were directly or indirectly related to DOGE actions, including layoffs in non-profit organizations and educational institutions.

During the interview, Lara Trump asked Musk if he regretted publicly supporting President Trump. Musk initially responded with “yes,” then quickly clarified that he was joking and reaffirmed his support for the President. He emphasized the importance of President Trump’s reelection for keeping America great and achieving higher goals.

Musk also expressed concerns that without President Trump’s reelection, the US would struggle to address the issue of a large influx of illegal immigrants.
