On Monday, October 13th, President Trump and other world leaders attended the Middle East Peace Summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. Egyptian President Sisi announced during the summit that he would award Trump the prestigious Nile River Order, Egypt’s highest national honor.
The award is in recognition of Trump’s efforts for peace in the Middle East and his contributions to conflict resolution. The Nile River Order is made of pure gold, adorned with colorful gemstones, and intricately carved with ancient Egyptian pharaonic patterns symbolizing wealth, resilience against evil, and the prosperity brought by the Nile River. It is bestowed upon individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Egypt or humanity. The award is personally presented by the Egyptian President and comes with a signed certificate. According to Al-Arabiya satellite TV, recipients of the Nile River Order will also receive Egyptian military honors posthumously.
During his speech at the Egypt Peace Summit, President Trump expressed his gratitude, stating, “I am deeply honored to receive the Nile River Order, Egypt’s highest national honor, bestowed upon me by you, President Sisi.”
He praised the beauty of the award and thanked President Sisi for this “beautiful” honor. Established over a century ago, the Nile River Order is Egypt’s most prestigious award and has only been granted to a few foreign heads of state. Trump is the second President in US history to receive this accolade. Former US President Jimmy Carter was awarded the Nile River Order in 1979 for his contributions to facilitating the Egypt-Israel peace treaty in Washington.
Before attending the Peace Summit in Egypt, Trump visited Israel, where he welcomed hostages returning home from Gaza alongside the Israeli people. The Israeli President’s Office announced on Monday morning that Trump would be awarded the Presidential Medal of Honor, Israel’s highest civilian honor. President Trump expressed his gratitude to Israeli President Isaac Herzog for this honor.
