In recent times, there have been persistent rumors that the top leader of the Chinese Communist Party, Xi Jinping, has lost military power, weakened his party authority, and may even be on the verge of being ousted. Recently, several rather “strange” signs have emerged, indicating that these rumors may not be unfounded.
On May 19, both the CCP mouthpiece People’s Daily and Xinhua News Agency published heavyweight articles once again emphasizing the important directive from the Hu Jintao era to “adhere to decisions based on science, democracy, and the rule of law.”
Economist and poet Su Xiaohe commented on this in the self-media, saying that the sudden publication of Hu Jintao’s important directive from years ago in official media clearly indicates that something significant is happening. Hu Jintao has already retired, yet bringing this up now undoubtedly means that he is making a comeback.
Su Xiaohe further stated that the real bigwig is not Wen Jiabao but Hu Jintao. It is likely that Hu Jintao is currently steering the ship in the top ranks of the CCP. Proposing decisions based on “science, democracy, and the rule of law” is likely aimed at discussing the mistakes Xi Jinping has made over the past decade or so at the expanded Politburo meeting.
Moreover, on May 21, Shen Yueyue, the Vice Chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), attended the opening ceremony of the Ninth Silk Road International Expo and delivered a keynote speech.
Political commentator Chen Pokong in the self-media commented that “after the 20th Party Congress, Xi Jinping has arranged members of the tuan (associations) faction, including Hu Chunhua, Shen Yueyue, Wang Dongming, etc., to take seats on the CPPCC and the National People’s Congress without real power. Shen Yueyue’s emergence breaks the tradition. Shen Yueyue’s coming forward indicates the tuan faction is starting to return.”
There has also been a significant shift in Chinese diplomatic relations. Earlier, Chinese Ambassador to Israel, Xiao Jun, stated in an interview with “ILTV News” that “Hamas’s actions are inhumane, unforgivable, and outrageous. China (the CCP) opposes and condemns what Hamas did on October 7th very clearly.”
It is well-known that the CCP had never openly condemned the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas before this.
Renowned political commentator Tang Jingyuan believes that the sudden 180-degree turn in Chinese foreign affairs can be interpreted in three ways. First, the CCP sees that Hamas is on the decline; second, Xi Jinping has lost power, and his past policies have been abandoned; and third, a combination of both scenarios.
In February this year, overseas independent commentator Cai Shunkun revealed on social media platforms and YouTube that his friend told him: “Xi Jinping now has no real power, and the power of the CCP has been transitioned to three elderly people born in 1942; second, the military power is in the hands of Zhang Yuxia, Xi’s position as chairman of the military commission is just a title, ‘Xi Jinping’s abdication only awaits official announcement, most likely at the Fourth Plenary Session and will not exceed next year’.”
Subsequently, Cai Shunkun pointed out that these three elderly people are Hu Jintao, Wen Jiabao, and Hu Deping.
At the 20th Party Congress, Xi Jinping publicly exposed Hu Jintao, demonstrating that he had consolidated various powers in himself, essentially forming a “one-man show.” The recent signs suggest that the rumors about Xi’s decline may indeed be a “far-sighted prophecy.”
