Early Voting Ends, Over a Million New Yorkers Cast Their Votes

The 9-day early voting period ended yesterday (November 3) at 5 p.m., drawing widespread attention to the presidential election. In New York City, over 1 million people participated in early in-person voting, with a record-breaking turnout of over 140,000 on the first day of early voting on Saturday, October 26.

The New York City Board of Elections announced that by just after 10 a.m., the number of early voters in the city had surpassed 1 million. The Board of Elections celebrated this milestone at 10:33 a.m. with a tweet using fireworks emojis: “We officially hit 1 million voters.”

According to the Board of Elections’ statistics, Brooklyn had the highest number of early voters with 345,840 people, followed by Manhattan with 282,533 people, Queens with 255,102 people, the Bronx with 113,955 people, and Staten Island with 91,898 people.

At the early voting location in Flushing – the Boy’s Club of the 41st Road, there was a constant flow of voters. As of 3 p.m., a total of over 7,189 people had voted during the 9-day period.

This polling site had a large number of Chinese American voters who were generally concerned about public safety, children’s education, and other issues. They hoped to elect candidates who would be beneficial for security and the economy.

Ms. Li expressed her desire to avoid war and not see American money spent on foreign conflicts. She agreed with the view that Trump should end wars and reduce military aid to the Ukrainian army. She believed that Trump’s reelection would be beneficial for security and the economy, stating, “A strong America makes us, immigrants living here, feel secure.”

Several Chinese American voters indicated that the candidate who would improve public safety was their main criterion for choosing a candidate.

Outside the polling station, volunteers for the 40th District State Assembly candidate Wang Shaoquan and the incumbent State Assemblyman Kim Duksik were actively distributing leaflets and campaigning.

Election day is on November 5th (Tuesday), with polling stations opening at 6 a.m. and closing at 9 p.m.
