Dynamite Duo of Power Station and Dog Zheng Performs Duet; Song Yunhua’s Tearful Performance Captivates Two Elders

“Power Train” and “Five Telling People” have released a new collaborative single titled “I Shouldn’t Cry”. Inhabitual dual lead singer Quanqing, upon learning that he would be duetting with two venerable gentlemen, humorously remarked, “What’s it got to do with me?” Initially concerned about exposing his shortcomings, it turned out his worries were unnecessary.

The music video for the song was directed by renowned filmmaker Yao Guozhen, continuing the concept of storytelling through music from the perspective of films. It features the collaborative efforts of actors Song Yunhua, Chen Xiaoxuan, and Huang Denghui to create a movie-level MV.

Set against the backdrop of what should have been a joyous wedding scene, the visuals capture not only the beautiful bridal gown but also an atmosphere tinged with melancholy and regret. In this “I Shouldn’t Cry” setting, tears eventually flow uncontrollably, adding depth to the MV.

Tailored specifically for Power Train, “I Shouldn’t Cry” aims to incorporate the visual elements of Power Train’s sound into the song. Yun An, the lead singer of Five Telling People, expressed his desire to infuse the essence of Power Train’s sound into the track, showcasing experiences of joy and sorrow.

Power Train, with over fifty years of life experiences, expressed how they’ve come to understand more about life through their music. They shared, “When we were young, we only knew how to charge forward, singing with all our might. We had no understanding of life experiences back then. But as we sang more, it felt like we had our own thoughts and emotions while singing.”

Upon hearing the trial recording where Power Train sang their hearts out, Yun An jokingly said, “When writing the song, I tried to emulate the singing styles of the two venerable gentlemen, but of course, I couldn’t. And to our surprise, the gentlemen even raised the key of the song.” Quanqing, upon learning of the duet with the two gentlemen, humorously remarked, “What’s it got to do with me?” Having been familiar with the dual lead singer model, she approached the collaboration with a learning mindset, admitting her fear of exposing her weaknesses and even discussing arguments with Yun An on how to harmonize their voices better.

However, their worries were proven to be unnecessary as everything fell into place once they officially recorded the song.

During the filming of the MV, Song Yunhua had a challenging scene right at the start, requiring her to delve into emotional depths for a crying scene that lasted over four hours, showcasing her superb acting skills. The three talented actors engaged in intense performances, impressing Power Train upon viewing the finished product. They applauded the actors’ performances and emotional prowess.
