During Concert, Needs to Drink Water Continuously, Concerns Raised Over Andy Lau’s Health

Recently in Shanghai, Hong Kong artist Andy Lau, who had previously almost fallen off a 4-meter high platform while attempting a sliding kneeling move on July 5th, once again caused concern among fans on July 12th.

According to Chinese media “Red Star News”, after Andy Lau’s concert in Shanghai on the 12th of July, there were reports online suggesting that he appeared to be fatigued both vocally and physically during the performance. Videos surfaced showing him gesturing on the lifting platform, signaling for it to be lowered so he could have some water. Some fans also noticed clear changes in his voice while singing the same song. At one point, he was seated on the stage, sweating profusely and struggling a bit to engage with the audience.

Some netizens commented, “During one song tonight, his throat seemed uncomfortable, signaling to lower the platform for water,” “Brother Wah tonight in Shanghai tour, his throat seems a bit injured,” “Audibly hearing Brother Wah’s tired voice,” with some directly stating that at 62 years old, Andy Lau doesn’t need to push himself too hard.

On July 5th during the first night of his concert in Shanghai, Andy Lau’s sliding kneeling move onstage had many fans on edge. While performing his song “Practice,” he made a running motion on stage in line with the lyrics, and in a moment of kneeling on both knees, the momentum of his run caused him to slide a distance, nearly falling off the 4-meter high lifting platform. Many fans exclaimed it was too dangerous and advised him to avoid risky actions.

In fact, fans’ concern for Andy Lau’s tired voice stems from an incident in December 2018. During a concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum, when he was singing the third song, he suddenly stopped, choked up, and apologized to the audience, saying, “I really can’t sing anymore, I’m sorry.” It turned out he had inflamed vocal cords and couldn’t produce any sound, leading to the cancellation of the remaining four shows due to being diagnosed with the flu.

At that time, Andy Lau repeatedly apologized to his fans on stage. Although he received their understanding and forgiveness, he cried on stage like a child, with the audience shouting from below, “Wah Zai, don’t cry!”
