Double Tenth National Day Gala: Lai Ching-te: Republic of China at 113 years old is greater than communist China.

On October 10, the National Day of the Republic of China (Taiwan) is approaching. During the National Day celebration on October 5, President Tsai Ing-wen pointed out that the People’s Republic of China just celebrated its 75th birthday on October 1. As the Republic of China is turning 113 years old, in terms of age, it is impossible for the communist China to be the “motherland” of the Republic of China.

The “113th National Day Celebration in Taipei” took place at the Taipei Dome on the evening of October 5. President of the Republic of China, Tsai Ing-wen, Chairman of the National Day Preparatory Committee and the President of the Legislative Yuan, Han Kuo-yu, Chairman of the Overseas Community Affairs Commission Hsu Chia-ching, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Culture Li Ching-hui, and the Mayor of Taipei City, Chiang Wan-an, were all in attendance along with 20,000 spectators to enjoy the festivities and exciting performances.

According to the Taipei City Government Tourism and Communications Bureau, this year’s National Day celebration focused on the theme “Happy Birthday Republic of China” and featured a diverse program including the singing of the national anthem, cheerleading performances, fashion shows by models, and performances by various popular singers. Taiwanese songstress A-mei, who had been away from the spotlight for 9 years, also graced the stage with her performance, igniting the atmosphere at the event.

President Tsai Ing-wen extended his wishes to all the citizens of the Republic of China for a happy 113th birthday, prosperity, peace throughout the seasons, and happiness and health for all. He congratulated all the distinguished guests present and the citizens of Taipei for enjoying the wonderful performances of the evening.

Tsai emphasized the importance of cherishing the spirit of sovereignty and independence, expressing love for the Republic of China, and learning from the sacrifices of past heroes to protect sovereignty, uphold democratic values, freedom, and human rights, honoring everyone who has sacrificed for the nation over the years.

Regarding the recent 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China (Communist China), Tsai pointed out that in a few days, the Republic of China will celebrate its 113th birthday. He stressed that based on age, the People’s Republic of China cannot be considered the motherland of the people of the Republic of China; instead, the Republic of China may be the motherland for individuals over 75 years old in the People’s Republic of China.

President Tsai thanked all the citizens who work diligently in various fields for the nation and society every day of the year. He particularly praised the efforts of the people and disaster prevention personnel from central and local authorities during the recent Typhoon Santu.

He also expressed gratitude to the Premier Su Tseng-chang, mentioning that next year’s budget for water management will increase by 15.9 billion New Taiwan Dollars (approximately 524 million US Dollars) compared to this year, totaling 55.1 billion New Taiwan Dollars (approx. 1.816 billion US Dollars). This budget increase aims to support water infrastructure construction in response to climate change-related disasters, urging unity and cooperation to make the country stronger, more prosperous, and progressive, and wishing everyone a pleasant night.

This year’s National Day celebration was hosted by experienced hosts Nie Yun and Qu Ailing, featuring five carefully designed programs including “National Anthem Echoing the National Day,” “Energetic Cheerleading,” “Cultural Brilliance and Sustainable New Chapter,” “Crossing Ethnic Groups and Singing for the Future,” and “Harmony and Unity for Prosperity.”

The celebration kicked off with the program “National Anthem Echoing the National Day,” where the Defense Ministry’s band welcomed the national flag team formed by students from the Army Special Warfare School, marching in with the enormous Republic of China flag held high at 10.8 meters long and 7.2 meters wide.

Following the performance from the champion of this year’s “Global Overseas Students and Overseas Chinese Singing Competition,” Wu Xinlin, and the dance troupe, popular singer A-mei took the stage, delivering three classic hits that resonated with the audience, bringing emotional moments to the National Day celebration.

To conclude the event, “Harmony and Unity for Prosperity” featured a grand finale where all VIP guests, attendees, and performers were invited by the hosts to join in singing “Tomorrow Will Be Better” together. The harmonious voices of the participants on stage and in the audience blended into one, creating a spirited and united atmosphere, marking a perfect conclusion to this year’s celebration.
